Oh Dios, ¡pon en mí un corazón limpio!, ¡dame un espíritu nuevo y fiel!
Salmos 51:10
Pensemos en esta escena: tenemos a un joven que ama a Dios con todo su corazón y es respetado en su comunidad. Ha superado innumerables pruebas y por fin, está alcanzando lo que Dios le prometió. La vida le sonríe. Su nombre: David, rey de Israel.
Pero en su momento más alto, la tentación toca la puerta de su corazón y él la deja entrar. Llega en forma de adulterio codiciando la mujer de un amigo.
La tentación puede llegar de muchas maneras a nuestra vida. Al rey David le llegó en forma de adulterio, fornicación y homicidio, pero a nosotros se nos puede aparecer en escenarios de diversa índole. Por ejemplo:
• Sintiendo envidia por los éxitos de un amigo.
• Gastando más dinero del que tenemos.
• Comiendo en exceso.
• Perdiendo el tiempo en redes sociales.
• Viendo pornografía.
• Quejándonos y enojándonos con Dios.
La Biblia dice que David fue un hombre conforme al corazón de Dios, y aunque fue un gran pecador, también fue un gran arrepentido. Él sabía que su pecado estaba en su corazón, y que el único que podía limpiarlo era Dios. David no argumentaba ni justificaba sus faltas; él reconocía sus actos y se humillaba pidiendo misericordia.
David sabía que Dios, en su bondad lo perdonaría y en su amor, lo disciplinaria. Dios amaba a David porque él se arrepentía genuinamente.
Si sientes que la tentación está rondando tu corazón y le has dado cabida al pecado, necesitas limpiarlo. Un corazón limpio es un corazón lavado, redimido y purificado por la obra de Jesucristo; por eso el único que puede limpiarlo es Él, pues Jesús hizo los méritos suficientes para lavarnos y hacernos aptos delante del Padre.
Acude a Jesucristo para que te lave y cree en ti un corazón limpio que te permita estar en su presencia. Si has fallado, y has vuelto a caer en lo mismo, revisa tu corazón, porque ahí está la fuente de tu problema, y clama a Dios, como lo hizo David: ¡Señor, limpia mi corazón!
Oración:
Amado Dios, aquí esta nuestro corazón para que lo limpies de toda iniquidad y rebelión, crea en nosotros un espíritu recto y líbranos de las tentaciones que pudieran estar acechando nuestras vidas, no queremos caer en pecado, llénanos de tu gracia y dominio propio para poder vencer, en el nombre de Jesús, Amén!
Be Careful with your Heart
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
Psalms 51:10
Let’s think about this scene; we have a young man who loves God with all of his heart and has respected everyone in his community. He has overcome many struggles and finally, he has reached what God has promised for him. Life smiles at him. His name: David, king of Israel.
But in his highest moment, temptation knocks on the door of his heart and he lets it enter. It arrives in the form of adultery, lusting for his friend’s woman.
Temptation can come in many different forms in our lives. To king David, it came in the form of adultery, fornication, and homicide; but for us, it can present itself in various types of scenes. For example:
• Feeling jealous of the successes of a friend.
• Spending more money that what we have.
• Eating in excess.
• Wasting time on social media.
• Viewing pornography.
• Complaining and getting angry with the Lord.
The Bible says that David was a man whose heart was in accordance with the Lord. Although he was a great sinner, he was also strongly repentant. He knew that sin was in his heart, and that the only person to purify him was God. David didn’t argue nor justify his flaws; he recognized his acts and he humbled himself, asking for mercy.
David knew that God, in His goodness, would forgive him and, in His love, would discipline him. God loved David because he genuinely repented.
If you feel like temptation is surrounding your heart and you have accommodated for sin, you need to purify it. A pure heart is a cleaned heart, remedied and purified by the work of Jesus Christ; for that reason, He is the only one who can wash it; since Jesus accomplished enough to wash us clean and declare us worthy before the Lord.
Look to Jesus Christ so He can purify your heart and create in you a pure heart that allows you to be in His presence. If you have failed, and you have fallen again to the same sin, revise your heart, because there is the root of the issue. Call out to God, like David did: Create in me a pure heart, o God!
Prayer:
Beloved God, here is our heart that you may purify it of our iniquities and rebelliousness; create in us an upright heart and free us from the temptations that could be lurking around our lives; we do not want to fall into sin; fill us with Your grace and will to be able to overcome; in the name of Jesus, amen!
