¿Qué quiere decir esto de que te manden ser valiente? A menudo pensamos en la valentía como si fuera un rasgo innato de nuestro carácter. O eres una persona audaz o no lo eres. Y, si somos completamente sinceros, pocos de nosotros realmente nos sentimos valientes. Hay muchas cosas que nos asustan. Le tenemos miedo al fracaso, a la muerte, a lo desconocido e incluso a la insignificancia. No nos sentimos intrépidos cuando nos enfrentamos a la oposición o a las dificultades, e incluso aquellos de nosotros que han decidido intentar ser valientes pueden cambiar de opinión rápidamente en según qué circunstancias.
La clave para obedecer esta orden es comprender que, cuando nos convertimos en seguidores de Jesucristo, su valentía se convierte en la nuestra. A través de su gracia y en su poder somos valientes. Somos capaces de enfrentarnos a los obstáculos de nuestras vidas con fuerza y decisión porque tenemos a un Dios poderoso que anda delante y detrás de nosotros.
Oración:
Señor, recuérdame constantemente que puedo ser fuerte y valiente porque tú estás conmigo. No tengo nada a lo que temer porque tú me has revestido con tu coraje. Cuando empiezo a sentirme asustada y abrumada, tráeme a la mente tu poder y tu gracia para mí.
His Bravery Becomes My Own
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” JOSHUA 1:9
What does it mean to be commanded to be brave? We often think of bravery as an innate character quality. You’re either a bold person, or you’re not. And if we are being completely honest, few of us truly feel brave. There is a lot that scares us. We are afraid of failure, of death, of the unknown, and even of insignificance. We don’t feel courageous when faced with opposition or hardship, and even those of us who have some resolve to be bold can lose it quickly in the wrong circumstance.
The key to obeying this command is understanding that when we become followers of Jesus Christ, his bravery becomes our own. Through his grace and in his power, we are brave. We are able to face the obstacles in our lives with strength and resolve because we have a mighty God who goes before us and behind us.
Prayer:
Lord, remind me continually that I can be strong and courageous because you are with me. I don’t have to fear because you have cloaked me with your bravery. When I begin to feel frightened and overwhelmed, remind me of your power and your grace for me.
