Envejecer forma parte de la vida. Resulta gracioso que el envejecimiento parezca empezar muy lentamente y después, a medida que avanza la vida, es cada vez más rápido. Sería fácil desanimarnos si valoráramos nuestra experiencia de envejecer puramente por lo que vemos en el espejo. Si lo hiciéramos así, quizá empezaríamos a temer u odiar este proceso.
Si permanecemos en el Señor, envejecer significa que también maduramos. Crecemos en fuerza y gracia en nuestro conocimiento de él. Quizá no tenemos el mismo aspecto que antaño, pero ahora ya nadie nos marea de aquí para allá. Crecer y hacerse mayor al lado de Jesús tiene muchos beneficios. No estamos hechos para ser siempre jóvenes. Somos seres eternos que existirán para siempre y, por eso, no debemos despreciar la idea de hacernos mayores. Dios nos está preparando para el peso eterno de una gloria más allá de toda comparación.
Oración:
A medida que me hago mayor, Dios, dame tu perspectiva; en ese aspecto, el mundo no me hace ningún favor. Recuérdame que la madurez es eternamente bella y que este mundo es solo temporal.
Not Afraid of Aging
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 2 CORINTHIANS 4:16
Aging is part of life. It’s funny how the aging process seems to start so slowly and then later in life it gets faster and faster. It would be easy to lose heart if we gauged our aging experience purely by what we saw in the mirror. If we did that, we might begin to fear or hate the aging process.
As we abide with the Lord, aging means we are also maturing. We grow in strength and grace in our knowledge of him. We might not look like we used to, but we also aren’t being tossed about. There are many benefits to growing older in Jesus. We are not
meant to stay young forever. We are eternal beings that will exist eternally. Because of this, we don’t need to despise aging. God is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.
Prayer:
As I age, God, give me your perspective. The world doesn’t do me any favors in this regard. Remind me that maturity is eternally beautiful, and this world is only temporal.
