Siempre es divertido tener cosas nuevas, especialmente si te encantan los gadgets y dispositivos tecnológicos. Las largas colas que se forman en los Apple Store alrededor de todo el país demuestran que la mayoría de nosotros estamos enamorados de lo último y lo mejor. No nos gusta quedarnos anticuados o no contar con la tecnología más avanzada.
Hay momentos en los que podemos sentirnos un poquito anticuados en nuestras vidas espirituales y sentimos que necesitamos el toque revitalizante de Dios. Puede que necesitemos rejuvenecer un poco pero, en el reino de Dios, lo que se lleva es lo viejo. De hecho, ¡cuanto más antiguo, mejor! En nuestra iglesia cambian los estilos de alabanza, los programas y los métodos, pero hay una cosa que siempre debe ser antigua: la verdad de la Palabra de Dios. Esta vieja religión es lo que todavía sigue rescatando a la gente de la muerte. Como no hay ninguna necesidad de actualizar el evangelio, quizá lo único que necesitamos es que el Espíritu nos unja de nuevo para llenarnos de contentamiento y descanso para nuestras almas.
Oración:
Padre celestial, hoy realmente necesito que me toques. Mi espíritu está seco y parece haberse quedado muy atrás, y mi alma necesita que la vivifiques. Quiero seguir tus senderos antiguos, donde se halla el buen camino, así que ¡dame hoy un nuevo comienzo!
Ancient Paths
“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” JEREMIAH 6:16 NIV
It’s fun to get something new—especially if you are a techy who loves gadgets. The long lines at Apple stores around the country prove that most of us are enamored with the latest and greatest. We don’t like being outdated or not living on the cutting edge.
At times we can feel a bit outdated in our spiritual lives and need a refreshing touch from God. We may need reviving, but in the kingdom of God, old is better. In fact, ancient is best! In our church, worship styles change, programs and methods, too, but one thing must remain old, and that is the truth of God’s Word. The old-time religion is still what rescues people from perishing. Since there is no need to update the gospel, perhaps what we need is just a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit to fill us with contentment and rest for our souls.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I am in need today of a touch from you. My spirit feels dry and outdated and my soul needs refreshment. I want to follow your ancient paths where the good way is, so give me a fresh beginning this day!
