Después de resucitar, Jesús dio a los discípulos la maravillosa tarea de alcanzar a todo el mundo con el evangelio (Mateo 28:18–20). ¿Cree usted que aquellos pescadores sin educación sabían lo que debían hacer? Por supuesto que no. Necesitaban la sabiduría y el poder de Dios para proceder. Así que oraron (Hechos 1:14) y el Señor no solo les mostró qué hacer, sino que los preparó poderosamente para la tarea.
De igual modo, cuando otras actividades comenzaron a abarrotarles el tiempo, los discípulos tomaron una decisión consciente, declarando: «Nosotros persistiremos en la oración y en el ministerio de la palabra» (Hechos 6:4). Se comprometieron con el propósito que el Señor les dio: ministrar y realizar la única actividad que aseguraría el éxito en esa misión, la oración.
Los apóstoles consideraron que la oración era absolutamente indispensable para llevar a cabo la comisión de Cristo. De hecho, los siervos más eficaces de Dios han sido poderosos en oración. Sus dones y su formación pueden haber sido distintos, pero todos estaban comprometidos a escuchar al Padre para que Él pudiera guiarlos y fortalecerlos en el cumplimiento de su misión. Esto también debe ocurrir con usted. Si quiere ser un siervo poderoso de Dios, debe hacer de la oración su prioridad.
Oración:
Jesús, concédeme tenacidad en la oración para poder conocer tu voluntad y poder. Amén.
POWERFUL SERVICE
When they had prayed . . . they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness. ACTS 4:31
After His resurrection, Jesus gave the disciples the incredible assignment of reaching the whole world with the gospel (Matthew 28:18–20). Do you think those uneducated fishermen knew what to do? Of course they didn’t. They needed God’s wisdom and power to proceed. So they prayed (Acts 1:14), and the Lord not only showed them what to do but empowered them mightily for the task.
Likewise, when other activities began to crowd their time, the disciples made a conscious choice, saying, “We will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word” (Acts 6:4). They committed themselves to the purpose God gave them (ministry) and to the one activity that would ensure success in that mission (prayer).
The apostles regarded prayer as absolutely indispensable when carrying out Christ’s commission. In fact, all of God’s most effective servants have been mighty in prayer. Their gifts and backgrounds may have been different, but they were all committed to listening to the Father so He could guide and empower them for the tasks they carried out. This must also be true of you.

Jesus, give me tenacity in prayer so I may know Your will and power. Amen.
