Seguro que has oído hablar de la «memoria selectiva», cuando una persona recuerda solo las partes del pasado que le convienen y olvida las que no le interesan tanto. ¡Quizá por eso los «viejos tiempos» parecen tan buenos! Piensa en cuántas veces Moisés advirtió a los israelitas que tenían que recordar todo lo bueno que había hecho el Señor por ellos a lo largo de los años. Cuántas veces les dijo que, si no querían volver a repetir los mismos errores, debían tener presente cómo habían provocado a Dios y habían sufrido las consecuencias.
Recordar lo que Dios ha hecho aumenta nuestra fe. Cada vez que él se muestra fiel a ti, se pone otro ladrillo sobre los cimientos de tu confianza. El precedente ya está establecido, y cada vez que él actúa en tu favor, la base de tu fe se vuelve más fuerte. Sabes que él te ha ayudado a salir adelante en otras ocasiones y que lo volverá a hacer. Tómate un momento hoy para recordarlo y para agradecerle a Dios todo lo que ha hecho por ti.
Oración:
Perdóname, Señor, por olvidar cómo has actuado en mi vida. Tengo tendencia a preocuparme como si esta vez tú no fueras a ayudarme. Gracias por tu fidelidad hacia mí y por todo lo que has hecho.
Remember
I recall all you have done, O LORD; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works. PSALM 77:11-12
You’ve heard of “selective memory,” when a person remembers only the bits of the past that are convenient while forgetting those that are not. Maybe that’s why the “good ol’ days” seem so good! All through Scripture, we are commanded to remember. Think about how many times Moses admonished the Israelites to recall all that the Lord had done for them through the years. To remember how they had provoked God and suffered the consequences, so they wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes.
Remembering what God has done builds our faith. Each time he proves himself faithful to you, another brick in your foundation of trust is laid. The precedent has been set and whenever he moves on your behalf, the bedrock of your faith grows stronger. You know that he brought you through before and he will do it again. Take time today to remember and to thank God for all he has done.
Prayer:
Forgive me, Lord, for forgetting the way you have worked in my life. I am prone to fret as though this time you won’t come through! Thank you for your faithfulness to me and for all you have done!
