2 Corintios 12:9
pero el Señor me ha dicho: «Mi amor es todo lo que necesitas; pues mi poder se muestra plenamente en la debilidad.» Así que prefiero gloriarme de ser débil, para que repose sobre mí el poder de Cristo.
Una de las historias más fascinantes del Nuevo Testamento llega justo después de un momento destacado para Jesús. En los primeros días de su ministerio, Jesús viajó desde Galilea para ser bautizado por Juan el Bautista en el río Jordán. Cuando Jesús salió del agua, los cielos se abrieron, el Espíritu de Dios descendió como una Paloma, y una voz proclamó: “Este es mi Hijo amado; en él me deleito”. ¿Puedes imaginar? ¿No te hubiera encantado estar allí?.
Luego, el siguiente versículo dice:
“Entonces Jesús fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto y después de ayunar 40 dias y 40 noches, el diablo vino a tentarlo”.
¡Habla de una decepción!
El enemigo trabaja de esa manera, y si él va tras Jesús, seguro que va tras tú y yo. En algunos de los momentos espirituales más elevados de mi vida, el enemigo ha atacado. Parece que cuando me va tan bien con Dios, bajé un poco la guardia y luego ¡bam!… El enemigo se cuela y ni siquiera lo sé. Puede ser un pecado viejo que pensé haber vencido hace mucho tiempo y ahí me está llamando de nuevo, podría ser algo tan simple como que Dios me dé la oportunidad de servirle ayudando a alguien, pero dejo pasar el momento. Tal vez convenciéndome de que perderme una noche orando por alguien no es gran cosa. Nos atacará en nuestras mayores vulnerabilidades y nos convencerá de que esta vez no importará, pero sí importa, siempre importa.
El enemigo golpeó a Jesús con tres tentaciones.
Jesús estaba al final de cuarenta días en el desierto y estaba hambriento, el enemigo le dijo que convirtiera las piedras en pan; entonces el enemigo lleva a Jesús al punto más alto del templo y le dice que salte y que los ángeles lo atrapen. Finalmente, el enemigo, que es el príncipe de esta tierra, ofrece a Jesús todos los reinos del mundo si Jesús simplemente se inclina y lo adora. La pregunta es… ¿Qué harías tú si estuvieras hambriento y pudieras convertir piedras en pan?, ¿lo harías?… Si supieras que los ángeles te atraparían, ¿saltarías desde algún lugar alto?, si pudieras tener todos los reinos de este mundo, ¿caerías a los pies del enemigo?.
Mis respuestas son no, no y no, pero el enemigo me ha engañado antes.
¿He cedido a las tentaciones y he justificado mis acciones? ¿He dejado pasar oportunidades de estar ahí para otros para poder hacer algo solo por mí? ¿Me he inclinado ante las cosas de este mundo y he dejado a Dios en un segundo plano? Mis respuestas son sí, sí y sí. ¿Y tú?.
El enemigo está dispuesto a destruirnos a ti, a mí y a cada creyente en Cristo. No te dejes engañar por sus artimañas y mentiras. Haz lo que hizo Jesús. Di no. Vuélvete a Jesús y abraza su poder, no olvides que aunque estamos en la batalla todos los días, ¡Jesús ya ganó la guerra!
Tomemos el reto después de a ver ayunado por estos 21 dias y analiza…
• ¿Ha habido un momento en tu vida en que te sentías más cerca a Dios y de repente se fue rápidamente al suelo?
• ¿Qué áreas de tu vida sabes que eres más vulnerable?
• ¿Convertirás un “sí” en un “no” hoy?
¡Ve más profundo!
Dedica tiempo a pedirle a Dios que te revele tus áreas de vulnerabilidad y luego pídele ayuda para resistirlas.
Oración:
Padre celestial, tú eres nuestro castillo, en quien confiamos plenamente, te pedimos que siempre podamos vivir bajo tu cobertura, bajo tu sombra, que nos pongas a contención de la maldad del enemigo, y que nos escondas en los más profundo de tu corazón, queremos vivir una vida agradable a ti, en el nombre de Jesús, amén.
Who is your enemy?
2 Corinthians 12: 9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
One of the most fascinating stories in the New Testament comes right after a highlight for Jesus. In the early days of his ministry, Jesus traveled from Galilee to be baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. When Jesus came out of the water, the heavens were opened, the Spirit of God descended like a dove, and a voice proclaimed: “This is my beloved Son; I delight in it. “Can you imagine? Wouldn’t you have loved to be there?
Then the next verse says:
“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert and after fasting 40 days and 40 nights, the devil came to tempt him.”
Talk about a disappointment!
The enemy works that way, and if he goes after Jesus, he sure goes after you and me. In some of the highest spiritual moments of my life, the enemy has attacked. It seems like when I’m doing so well with God, I let my guard down a bit and then bam … The enemy sneaks in and I don’t even know it. It may be an old sin that I thought I had overcome a long time ago and there it is calling me again, it could be something as simple as God giving me the opportunity to serve Him by helping someone, but I let the moment pass. Maybe convincing myself that missing a night praying for someone is no big deal. He will attack us at our greatest vulnerabilities and convince us that this time it won’t matter, but it does matter, it always matters.
The enemy struck Jesus with three temptations.
Jesus was at the end of forty days in the desert and he was hungry, the enemy told him to turn the stones into bread; then the enemy takes Jesus to the highest point of the temple and tells him to jump and the angels to catch him. Finally, the enemy, who is the prince of this earth, offers Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if Jesus will simply bow down and worship him. The question is … What would you do if you were hungry and could turn stones into bread? Would you do it? … If you knew that angels would catch you, would you jump from somewhere high? If you could have all the kingdoms of this world, would you fall at the feet of the enemy?
My answers are no, no and no, but the enemy has deceived me before.
Have I given in to temptations and have I justified my actions? Have I missed opportunities to be there for others so that I can do something just for myself? Have I bowed down to the things of this world and left God in the background? My answers are yes, yes and yes. And you?
The enemy is ready to destroy you, me, and every believer in Christ. Don’t be fooled by his tricks and lies. Do what Jesus did. Say no, turn to Jesus and embrace his power,. Don’t forget that even though we are in battle every day, Jesus has already won the war!
Let’s take the challenge after having fasted for these 21 days and analyze …
• Has there been a time in your life when you felt closer to God and you suddenly fell quickly to the ground?
• What areas of your life do you know that you are most vulnerable?
• Will you turn a “yes” into a “no” today?

Take time to ask God to reveal your areas of vulnerability and then ask Him for help in resisting them.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, you are our castle, in whom we fully trust, we ask that we can always live under your cover, under your shadow, that you put us in containment of the evil of the enemy, and that you hide us in the depths of your heart, we want to live a life pleasing to you, in the name of Jesus, amen.
