Juan 3:3
Respondió Jesús y le dijo: De cierto, de cierto te digo, que el que no naciere de nuevo, no puede ver el reino de Dios.
Jesús le dijo a Nicodemo que debía nacer del Espíritu. Cuando Jesús habla de nacer de la carne, se está refiriendo al proceso natural de nacer del vientre de una madre.
Pero el nacimiento espiritual es algo que sólo el Espíritu de Dios puede hacer. No es algo que nosotros logremos por medio de nuestros esfuerzos o por medio de nuestras capacidades. No.
Nacer de nuevo es algo que sólo el Espíritu Santo puede realizar en nosotros.
Si meditamos un poco, nadie decidió venir a este mundo. Nadie decidió crearse a sí mismo y desarrollarse dentro del vientre de nuestra madre. Que nosotros naciéramos fue resultado de la capacidad de nuestros padres. De la misma manera, nacer del Espíritu es algo que no depende de nosotros sino de un poder que actúa sobre nosotros, el poder del Espíritu Santo.
Nacer de nuevo es recibir la vida misma de Dios.
En el diálogo que Jesús tiene con Nicodemo, vemos que la conclusión de Jesús es que: nacer de nuevo es igual a tener vida eterna.
Algunos tienen la idea de que la vida eterna es una vida en el cielo que nunca va a terminar, una vida que nunca verá el final de la muerte. Y esta definición de la vida eterna es cierta pero incompleta… Sí, Porque la vida eterna no sólo significa vida infinita sino que también implica “algo” que nunca ha sido creado y que no tiene principio.
Un día una profeta, me enseñaba a cerca de que Dios nunca ha existido… por un momento pensé y traté de entender, sin embargo su enseñanza era que todo lo que existe tiene principio y fin… Dios es desde la eternidad y por los siglos de los siglos, esta cualidad sólo la posee Dios. Por eso, la vida eterna no sólo hace referencia a la duración sino que apunta, principalmente, a la cualidad de esa vida. Tener vida eterna significa, sobre todo, tener la misma vida de Dios. Porque sólo Él es eterno.
Nacer de nuevo significa ser su hijo.
En Juan 1:12-13 dice que los que reciben a Jesús, los que creen en su nombre, pueden ser hechos hijos de Dios. Y en el siguiente versículo añade que esta obra sólo la realiza Él. Así como veíamos cuando Jesús le dijo a Nicodemo que nacer de nuevo es una obra del Espíritu.
Al recibir la naturaleza de Dios, al recibir su vida, es bastante lógico ser llamados hijos suyos; pues nacimos de Dios.
Esta nueva condición de hijos nos hace imitar a nuestro Padre. Y de manera natural, nos hace reaccionar como Él y desear lo que Él desea. Como dice el refrán: “hijo de tigre, nace pintado”.
La condición de hijos nos lleva a buscar la relación que Jesús nos invita a tener con Dios, de Padre a hijo.
Oración:
Amado Padre Celestial, hoy nos volvemos a ti de todo corazón, queremos ser cada día más como tú, queremos tener todos tus aspectos y cualidades, queremos estar ligados a tu corazón para ser como tú, en el nombre de Jesús, amén.
What is being born again?
John 3: 3
Jesus answered and said to him: Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever is not born again cannot see the kingdom of God.
Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born of the Spirit. When Jesus speaks of being born of the flesh, he is referring to the natural process of being born from a mother’s womb.
But spiritual birth is something that only the Spirit of God can do. It is not something that we achieve through our efforts or through our abilities. No.
Being born again is something that only the Holy Spirit can do in us.
If we meditate a little, nobody decided to come to this world. Nobody decided to create himself and develop inside the womb of our mother. That we were born was the result of the ability of our parents. In the same way, being born of the Spirit is something that does not depend on us but on a power that acts on us, the power of the Holy Spirit.
To be born again is to receive the very life of God.
In the dialogue that Jesus has with Nicodemus, we see that Jesus’ conclusion is that: being born again is equal to having eternal life.
Some have the idea that eternal life is a life in heaven that will never end, a life that will never see the end of death. And this definition of eternal life is true but incomplete … Yes, because eternal life not only means infinite life but also implies “something” that has never been created and that has no beginning.
One day a prophet taught me that God has never existed … for a moment I thought and tried to understand, however her teaching was that everything that exists has a beginning and an end … God is from eternity and forever and ever, this quality is possessed only by God. For this reason, eternal life not only refers to the duration but also points, mainly, to the quality of that life. Having eternal life means, above all, having the very life of God. Because only He is eternal.
Being born again means being his child.
In John 1: 12-13 it says that those who receive Jesus, those who believe in his name, can be made children of God. And in the next verse he adds that this work is only done by Him. Just as we saw when Jesus told Nicodemus that being born again is a work of the Spirit.
In receiving God’s nature, receiving life from him, it is quite logical to be called his children; for we were born of God.
This new condition of children makes us imitate our Father. And naturally, He makes us react like Him and want what He wants. As the saying goes: “son of a tiger, he is born painted”.
The condition of children leads us to seek the relationship that Jesus invites us to have with God, from Father to son.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, today we turn to you with all our hearts, we want to be more like you every day, we want to have all your aspects and qualities, we want to be linked to your heart to be like you, in the name of Jesus, amen.
