S. Mateo 16:25-26
Porque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que pierda su vida por mi causa, la encontrará. ¿De qué sirve ganar el mundo entero si se pierde la vida? ¿O qué se puede dar a cambio de la vida?
¿Alguna vez has perdido algo de valor?
Se considera que diariamente el 99,9% del mundo lidia con pequeñas pérdidas. Incluso tal vez una que otra vez se nos pasa la hora de entrar al trabajo o a la escuela, se nos va el medio de transporte, vemos cómo pierde nuestro equipo favorito, perdemos dinero, documentos o algún objeto importante… En fin, todos nos enfrentamos en cierta medida a diversas pérdidas durante el transcurso de nuestra vida. Y es bueno que aprendamos a lidiar con ellas. Pero… ¿qué sucede cuando perdemos algo muy valioso?
En los versículos de hoy vemos que Jesús nos alerta sobre una pérdida que es muy importantísima y necesaria: “perder la vida por causa de Cristo”. A los ojos del mundo, cuando aceptamos a Jesús estamos renunciando a toda “independencia” que teníamos sin él.

Y decía a todos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz cada día, y sígame.
Para muchos es una verdadera locura vivir sin auto gobernarse, pero no es tan hermoso tener una dependencia al 100% de Dios. Es como perder la vida. Pero, ¿de qué vale “ganar el mundo y perder el alma”? Nuestra alma solo estará segura al estar con Jesucristo. ¡Entrégate a Jesús y recibe la vida plena con Dios!
~ Perder para ganar la vida
Perder significa entregarse totalmente a Dios y vivir conforme a la orientación que recibimos en su Palabra. Así es como ganaremos mucho más de lo que podamos imaginar.
Ora y entrégate al Señor Jesucristo. Con él tu vida tendrá sentido y un propósito.
Los placeres y las riquezas del mundo son momentáneos y superficiales. No cambies todo lo que puedes disfrutar con el Señor por cosas banas y sin valor para la eternidad.
Lee el Salmo 73. No sientas envidia de la manera en la que los mundanos (las personas sin Cristo) viven o de las cosas que ellos tienen. Puede parecer que son felices, pero su vida está vacía, sin esperanza real y su alegría es pasajera.
Perder lo que parece estar bajo tu control, entregando ese derecho a Cristo, es ganar la vida eterna y toda la gracia que viene junto con Jesús.
– Romanos 8:32
El que no escatimó ni a su propio Hijo, sino que lo entregó por todos nosotros, ¿cómo no nos dará también con él todas las cosas?
Comparte con otros que lo mejor que podemos hacer en esta vida es usarla para conocer más a Jesucristo. Puede parecer que estamos perdiendo, pero esto resultará en la mayor ganancia que jamás podremos obtener.
Oración:
Señor, a veces observo la vida de aquellos que no te conocen y parece que están avanzando más o que reciben más alegrías que tus hijos. ¡Ayúdame a no sentir envidia de ellos! Sé que la realidad es que viven sin fe, sin esperanza y sin el mejor amor, que es el que procede de ti. Gracias por haberte entregado en la cruz, por haber recibido mi vida y por tu cuidado sobre mí. Quiero dejar mi vida en tus manos todos los días. En el nombre de Jesús, amén.
Lose to Gain
– Matthew 16:25-26
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
Have you ever lost anything of value?
Every day 99.9% of the world deals with small losses. Even if we spend the time to go to work or school again, we miss the means of transport, we see how we lose our favorite equipment, we lose money, documents or some important object… In the end, we all face somewhat different losses over the course of our lives. And it’s good that we learn to deal with them. But what happens when we lose something very valuable?
In today’s verses we see that Jesus warns us of a loss that is very important and necessary: “losing life because of Christ”. In the eyes of the world, when we accept Jesus we are renouncing all the “independence” we had without him.
– Luke 9:23
And he said to all, If any man will come after me, deny himself, take up his cross every day, and follow me.
For many it is true madness to live without self-governing, but it is not so beautiful to have a 100% dependence on God. It’s like losing your life. But what’s the point of “winning the world and losing your soul”? Our souls will only be sure to be with Jesus Christ. Give yourself to Jesus and receive full life with God!
Losing to earn a living
Losing means giving oneself to God and living according to the guidance we receive in His Word. That’s how we’ll earn a lot more than we can imagine.
Pray and give yourself to the Lord Jesus Christ. With him your life will have meaning and a purpose.
The pleasures and riches of the world are momentary and superficial. Do not change all that you can enjoy with the Lord for worthless things for eternity.
Read Psalm 73. Do not feel envious of the way worldly people (the people without Christ) live or the things they have. They may seem happy, but their lives are empty, with no real hope and their joy is transient.
To lose what seems to be under your control, giving that right to Christ, is to gain eternal life and all the grace that comes with Jesus.
– Romans 8:32
He who spared neither his own Son, but gave it to all of us, how will he not also give us all things with him?
Share with others that the best thing we can do in this life is to use it to know Jesus Christ more. It may seem like we’re losing, but this will result in the biggest profit we’ll ever get.
Prayer:
Lord, I sometimes observe the lives of those who do not know you and seem to be advancing more or receiving more joy than your children. Help me not to be envious of them! I know that the reality is that they live without faith, without hope and without the best love, which is the one that comes from you. Thank you for giving yourself on the cross, for receiving my life, and for your care of me. I want to leave my life in your hands every day. In the name of Jesus, amen.
