Adictos a la adrenalina, románticos sin esperanza, películas de superhéroes… ¡Estamos obsesionados con lo extraordinario y sobrenatural! Usamos palabras exageradas y perseguimos imágenes brillantes porque nos hemos comprometido completamente con el seductor llamado de lo asombroso.
Judas traiciona a Jesús porque, absurdamente, no lo encuentra suficientemente asombroso. ¡El Mesías! ¡El rey profetizado! Pero Judas, tiene estrellas en sus ojos. Esto va a ser una revolución, pensaba. Viviremos en palacios y el mundo nos conocerá. Judas está devastado porque Jesús no cumplió con sus expectativas personales.
Hemos comprado la seducción de «lo asombroso», porque no creemos en lo ordinario. Necesitamos algo de magia, algo nuevo, algo enorme e increíble. El problema es este: la magia es solo una exageración de lo ordinario. Lo que llamamos asombroso, es una manipulación o exageración de lo que es normal.
Dios nos dice: Llámame, y te responderé y te diré cosas grandes e inescrutables que no conoces. ¡Cuántas veces buscamos por todas partes algo que nos asombre, cuando Dios nos dice que Él puede sorprendernos! Dios puede sorprenderte con todo lo que Él tiene reservado para ti. Puede sorprenderte con el propósito por el que te creó; con los lugares a los que está dispuesto a llevarte.
Debemos saber que la verdadera belleza está en lo cotidiano, lo que vivimos en el mundo, el aquí y el ahora. Nos emocionamos cuando escuchamos versos como el de arriba. Nos inclinamos a esperar que Jesús separe el mar o golpee a nuestros enemigos. Pero los milagros de Jesús eran solo una señal. Esa señal apunta a las cosas ordinarias de la vida. Cuando nos inclinamos hacia Dios, las riquezas inescrutables que Él susurra son cotidianas: paz, esperanza, amor, servicio. Podríamos retroceder sintiéndonos decepcionados. Pero estos son los mayores tesoros del cielo y de la tierra.
No te dejes seducir por una falsa perspectiva. Tienes todo lo que necesitas para la vida y para la piedad. No te dejes seducir por esperar un atajo mágico. Los milagros son solo una herramienta para mostrarte lo que está disponible todo el tiempo. Opciones de gratitud. Conciencia. Estos son los elementos de la vida verdaderamente divinos. Verdaderamente Asombroso.
Oración:
Padre Eterno, muchas veces queremos vivir una vida mágica, llena de nuestra propia fantasía y menospreciamos todo lo que el reino de los cielos nos ha regalado, amor, gozo, paz, servicio, ser siempre agradecidos disfrutando de cada tesoro divino, abre nuestro entendimiento y que se revele a nuestros corazones el valor divino que significa seguir a Jesús; en el nombre de Jesús, ¡Amén!
Is ordinary, normal?
Adrenaline addicts, hopeless romantics, superhero movies… We’re obsessed with the extraordinary and supernatural! We use exaggerated words and pursue brilliant images because we are fully committed to the seductive call of the amazing.
Judas betrays Jesus because, absurdly, he does not find him amazing enough. The Messiah! The prophesied king! But Judas has stars in his eyes. This is going to be a revolution, he thought. We will live in palaces and the world will know us. Judas was devastated because Jesus did not meet his personal expectations.
We have bought the seduction of “the amazing”, because we do not believe in the ordinary. We need some magic, something new, something huge and incredible. The problem is this: Magic is just an exaggeration of the ordinary. What we call amazing is a manipulation or exaggeration of what is normal.
God tells us, Call out to me, and I will answer you and tell you great, untold things that you do not know. How many times we look everywhere for something that makes us wonder, when God tells us that He can surprise us! God can surprise you with all that He has reserved for you. You may be surprised by the purpose for which he created you; by the places he is willing to take you.
We must know that true beauty is in everyday life, what we live in the world, here and now. We get excited when we hear verses like the one above. We lean to expect Jesus to separate the sea or strike our enemies. But Jesus’ miracles were just a sign. That sign points to the ordinary things of life. When we lean toward God, the inscrutable riches that He whispers are everyday: Peace, hope, love, service. One could go back feeling disappointed, but these are the greatest treasures of heaven and earth.
Don’t be seduced by a false perspective. You have everything you need for life and for devotion. Don’t let yourself be seduced by waiting for a magical shortcut. Miracles are just a tool to show you what is available all the time. Options of gratitude, consciousness; These are the truly divine elements of life. Truly amazing.
Prayer:
Eternal Father, we often want to live a magical life, full of our own fantasy, and we despise all that the kingdom of heaven has given us, love, joy, peace, service, and to be always grateful enjoying every divine treasure, opens our understanding and to reveal to our hearts the divine value that it means to follow Jesus; in the name of Jesus, Amen!
