Si te planteas hacer reformas en tu casa, es importante saber dónde están las vigas y paredes maestras. Si decidimos derribar un tabique por aquí y otro por allá para ganar más espacio, puede que esto acabe por dañar al resto de la estructura. Cuando un edificio se derrumba por una mala construcción, unos cimientos mal puestos o una carga excesiva, puedes apostarte lo que quieras a que las vigas y las paredes maestras han tenido algo que ver.
Las vigas maestras pueden ser como aquellas personas en nuestras vidas a las que admiramos. A las que amamos. A las que respetamos. De las que dependemos. A veces acaban cayendo, y puede que no advirtamos lo mucho que nos apoyamos en ellas hasta que esto pasa. Cuando alguien así se derrumba, quizá nos cueste mucho recuperarnos. Puede que dejen a su paso un reguero de destrucción. Dios es la única viga maestra en la que te puedes apoyar con la certeza de que nunca se moverá, se doblará o se hundirá.

When considering a home remodeling project, it’s important to determine where the support beams are. If we just knock a wall down here and there to create more space, it could have a detrimental effect on the rest of the structure. Whether a building topples because of faulty construction, a bad foundation, or extraordinary loads, you can bet the support beams were compromised.
Support beams can be like those people in our lives that we look up to. People we love. People we respect. People we depend on. Sometimes they fall—and we might not realize we were leaning on them until they do. When they go down, it can be hard to recover. They might leave a wake of destruction in their collapse. The only support beam you can lean on and guarantee it will never shake, bend, or crumble under pressure is God.
Prayer:
Father, when the world around me seems to have collapsed, and I find myself floundering around looking for something firm to take hold of, I choose to grab your hand. You are steady and sure, and your love is safe.
