Él nos salvó, no por las obras de justicia que nosotros hubiéramos hecho, sino conforme a Su misericordia.
TITO 3:5
¿Acaso albergas tus propias obras de justicia? Si es así, puede que estés limitando el alcance de la amorosa presencia de Dios en tu vida. Afortunadamente, hay señales de advertencia que pueden ayudarte a detectar rastros de orgullo antes de que te atrape.
Por ejemplo, los creyentes con actitudes de justicia propia pueden mostrar un aire de superioridad. Se consideran mejores que los demás, como si Dios los hubiera dotado de más madurez espiritual, talento o discernimiento que a sus hermanos y hermanas en Cristo. Debido a eso, pueden ser críticos y sentenciosos. Cualquiera que sea el grado de éxito que otra persona pueda disfrutar, se apresuran a señalar los defectos. También se enfocan en su propio rendimiento, pensando que su comportamiento —de alguna manera— les hace ganar puntos con Dios. Olvidan que fue el sacrificio de Jesús en la cruz lo que nos hace —y nos mantiene— agradables a Él.
¿Te sucede alguna de estas cosas? Pídele al Espíritu Santo que te escudriñe y te muestre las áreas de tu vida en las que se ha arraigado el comportamiento farisaico. Vuélvete humildemente a tu Padre perdonador, vuelve a depender de Él como un niño y dale gracias por la rectitud que te da de manera gratuita a través de la fe en Cristo.
Oración:
Jesús, reconozco que toda mi justicia viene de ti. Te sigo con humildad y agradecimiento. Amén.
Self-Righteousness
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy.
TITUS 3:5
Do you harbor any self-righteousness? If so, you may be limiting the full extent of God’s loving presence in your life. Thankfully, there are warning signs that can help you detect traces of pride before it ensnares you.
For instance, self-righteous believers may demonstrate an air of superiority. They inherently consider themselves better than others—that God has gifted them with more spiritual maturity, talent, or discernment than their brothers and sisters in Christ. Because of this, they can be critical and judgmental. Whatever degree of success another person may enjoy, they are quick to point out the flaws. They also look slavishly to their own personal performance, thinking their behavior somehow earns them points with God. They forget that it was Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross that makes us—and keeps us—pleasing to Him.
Are any of these traits true of you? Ask the Holy Spirit to search you and point out any areas in your life where self-righteous behavior may have taken hold. Turn humbly to your forgiving Father, return to childlike dependence on Him, and thank Him for the righteousness that He gives you freely through faith in Christ.

Jesus, I acknowledge all my righteousness comes from You. I follow You in humility and gratefulness. Amen.
