Ser parte de la iglesia es esencial para nuestra relación con Dios, y por “la iglesia” me refiero simplemente al pueblo de Dios. No podemos hacer fe solos. Fuimos diseñados para la comunidad, particularmente la comunidad con el pueblo de Dios. Es posible que hayas crecido en la iglesia y sepas exactamente de qué estoy hablando, o que no sepas nada sobre la comunidad de la iglesia, y eso está bien.
Cualquiera que haya sido su experiencia con la iglesia, nunca es demasiado tarde para involucrarse. Nos necesitamos unos a otros para mantenernos alentados en el camino que Dios ha trazado delante de nosotros y para brindar responsabilidad en nuestras vidas. Esto puede ser como unirse a un grupo de jóvenes o a un estudio bíblico. Puede parecer como invitar a otros creyentes a su casa para pasar el rato y hablar sobre Dios. No existe una manera “correcta” de hacerlo; el punto es simplemente estar junto al pueblo de Dios.
A partir de esa base sólida, no podemos prosperar en nuestra vida fuera de la iglesia. No encontré una comunidad cristiana hasta la universidad, pero cuando la encontré, cambió mi vida. Mi fe creció exponencialmente a medida que aprendí quién es realmente Jesús en medio de su pueblo. Miré hacia atrás y me di cuenta de por qué era tan difícil cuando intentaba hacer fe por mi cuenta en la escuela secundaria porque en realidad no es posible.
No se sienta intimidado por encontrar una comunidad eclesiástica si aún no tiene una; créame, desee tenerla. Quizás descubras que te abrazarán con un verdadero amor.

The Church
“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”
Ephesians 2:19-22
Being part of the church is essential to our relationship with God, and by “the church,” I simply mean God’s people. We cannot do faith alone. We were designed for the community—particularly community with God’s people. You may have grown up in the church and know exactly what I’m talking about, or you may not know the first thing about the church community, and that’s okay.
Whatever your experience with the church has been, it’s never too late to get involved. We need one another to stay encouraged on the path God has set before us and to provide accountability in our lives. This can look like joining a youth group or a Bible study. It can look like inviting other believers over to your house to hang out and talk about God. There is no “right” way to do it—the point is just to be together with God’s people.
From that strong foundation, we are enabled to flourish in our life outside of the church. I didn’t find a Christian community until college, but when I did, it changed my life. My faith grew exponentially as I learned who Jesus really is in the midst of His people. I looked back and realized why it was so hard when I was trying to do faith by myself in high school because it’s actually not really possible.
Don’t be intimidated to find a church community if you don’t already have one—trust me, I wish I had. You may find that you will be embraced with loving arms.

Dear God, thank You for Your people. Help me to lean into the communities that you’ve given me and seek out fellowship with those who want to love and follow You. Surround me with people who are serious about You and can help me grow in my faith, and let me be that person for others. Amen.
