«¡Hosanna! BENDITO EL QUE VIENE EN EL NOMBRE DEL SEÑOR».
MARCOS 11:9
Cuando Jesús hizo su entrada triunfal en Jerusalén la semana antes de su crucifixión, el pueblo gritaba: «¡Hosanna!», que en español más o menos significa: «¡Te suplicamos que nos salves!». Pero ¿de qué? Por supuesto, sabemos que la gente pedía ser liberada de la opresión romana. Por eso debió confundirlos que Jesús no llegara montado en un caballo de guerra dispuesto a la conquista, sino en un humilde pollino como Siervo sufriente. Eso se debe a que Jesús vio una amenaza mayor para nuestras almas: el pecado, que causaría una eternidad de sufrimiento separados del Padre en el infierno.
A menudo hacemos lo mismo que el pueblo de Jerusalén: clamamos a Dios para que nos salve de un dolor temporal, cuando hay fuerzas mucho más destructivas actuando en nosotros. Afortunadamente, nuestro Padre celestial siempre está a la ofensiva contra nuestros mayores enemigos y triunfa sobre ellos. Él no solo nos libra de los problemas de los que somos conscientes, sino también de los adversarios invisibles que nos paralizan.
Así que siempre que estés perplejo con lo que el Señor esté haciendo, recuerda que Él tiene una perspectiva única acerca de tus necesidades más apremiantes y nunca ignora ninguno de los desafíos que enfrentas. Confía en Él para elegir las batallas correctas.

Jesús, gracias por salvarme en todos los aspectos, especialmente cuando no soy consciente del peligro. Amén.
Greater Foes

When Jesus made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem the week before His crucifixion, the people shouted, “Hosanna,” which in English roughly means, “We beseech You to save us!” But save them from what? Of course, we know the people were asking for deliverance from Roman oppression. So it must have confused them that Jesus didn’t ride in on a warhorse ready to conquer but on a humble foal to be the Suffering Servant. This is because Jesus saw the greater threat to our souls—sin, which would cause an eternity of suffering separated from the Father in hell.
We often do the same thing as the people in Jerusalem—we cry out for God to save us from temporary pain when there are far more destructive forces at work in us. Thankfully, our heavenly Father is always on the offensive toward our greatest foes and is triumphant over them. He not only sets us free from the problems we’re aware of but from the unseen adversaries that truly cripple us.
So whenever you’re perplexed about what the Lord is doing, remember that He has a unique perspective about your most pressing needs and never ignores any of the challenges you face. Trust Him to choose the right battles.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for saving me in every way—especially when I’m not aware of the danger. Amen.
