¿Ha sentido a lo largo de su vida que necesita ganarse el derecho de ser amado y aceptado por otros? En nuestro mundo quebrantado, esta es una conclusión natural. Sin embargo, este tipo de pensamiento es realmente destructivo al relacionarnos con Dios. Esto se debe a que ponemos nuestro esfuerzo en ganar la aprobación que Él ya nos dio, en lugar de simplemente dedicarnos a conocer a Aquel que nos ama. El resultado final de tal enfoque de vida resulta en un esfuerzo agotador y contraproducente y en una frustración implacable. Por mucho que nos sacrifiquemos, el vacío nunca se llena.
¿Por qué no funcionan nuestros esfuerzos? Porque Jesús ya manifestó: «Consumado es» (Juan 19:30). La aceptación que anhelamos ya se nos ha provisto; por tanto, actuar como si tuviéramos que ganarla, en realidad, muestra irrespeto hacia el regalo que el Salvador nos dio.
Por tanto, amigo lector, deje de luchar. Mire hacia Jesús, quien lo ama libremente, y busque conocerlo. Reconozca que usted no tiene que hacer nada excepto recibir lo que Él está dándole; alábelo por ese gran regalo. Nunca más volverá a tener un corazón hambriento.
Oración;
Jesús, perdóname por tratar de alcanzar tu gracia. Por favor muéstrame tu rostro, ayúdame a conocer tu corazón y enséñame a recibir tu amor. Señor Jesús, te adoro. Amén.
MISPLACED EFFORT
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.” JEREMIAH 31:3
Throughout your life, have you ever felt as if you’ve needed to earn the right to be loved and accepted by others? In this broken world, it’s a natural conclusion. However, this type of thinking is actually destructive when you relate to God. This is because your focus is on striving to earn the approval He has already given you instead of simply knowing the One who loves you. The end result of that approach to life is exhausting, self-defeating effort and unyielding frustration. No matter how much you sacrifice, it never fills the emptiness.
Why don’t your efforts work? Because Jesus has already declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30). The acceptance you desire has already been provided—and acting as if you need to earn it actually shows disrespect to the gift your Savior has given.
Therefore, friend, stop striving. Look to Jesus, who loves you freely, and seek to know Him. Acknowledge that you don’t have to do a thing except receive what He is pouring out to you and praise Him for His great gift. You need never have a love-starved heart again.
Prayer:
Jesus, forgive me for striving. Please show me Your face, help me know Your heart, and teach me to receive Your love. Lord Jesus, I worship You. Amen.
