¿Puede usted contar realmente con que su sentido común le haga conocer la voluntad de Dios? Le sorprenderá descubrir cuántas decisiones para su vida caen dentro de lo que el Padre ya le ha revelado. Por ejemplo, es aconsejable llevar un estilo de vida saludable, descansar bien y hacer ejercicio. Todo esto está dentro de la voluntad del Señor para usted.
Pero el modo en que Dios puede obrar a través del sentido común es mucho más profundo. Por ejemplo, la gente suele beber para escapar de sus problemas, solo para descubrir que se siente peor al día siguiente y que sus problemas siguen allí. O tal vez las personas traten de obtener lo que les brinda una sensación de valía, libertad y aceptabilidad. Sin embargo, descubren que lo que han adquirido para sí en realidad las hace sentir más vacías, esclavas y solitarias. Sus tácticas no les funcionan.
Por tanto, el sentido común nos ayuda llevándonos a comprender que estamos intentando alcanzar objetivos del modo equivocado o con las personas equivocadas. De este modo, el sentido común confirma que algo no funciona en una forma piadosa y productiva para nosotros, y que a fin de aprender a cambiar nuestra situación, debemos buscar al Señor por medio de la Palabra y en oración.
Oración:
Jesús, revélame lo que no funciona en mi vida a fin de que pueda buscarte y aprender de ti el camino correcto. Amén.
UNDERSTANDING COMMON SENSE
Live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age. TITUS 2:12
Can you really count on your common sense to know God’s will? You may be surprised to discover how many decisions for your life fall within what the Father has already revealed to you. For example, it’s wise to eat a healthy diet, get proper rest, and exercise—these are all the Lord’s will for you.
But the way God can work through common sense goes much deeper than this. For instance, people may drink to escape their problems—only to find they feel worse the next day, and their troubles are still there. Or perhaps people will try to buy their way to a sense of worth, freedom, and acceptability. But they discover that what they’ve purchased actually makes them feel more emptiness.
So common sense aids you by leading you to realize that you are trying to achieve your goals in the wrong way or with the wrong people. In this manner, common sense confirms that something is not working in a godly, productive manner for you, and you should seek the Lord through His Word and in prayer to learn how to turn your situation around.
Prayer:
Jesus, reveal what is not working in my life so that I may seek You and learn the right way from You. Amen.
