2 Crónicas 11-16
Cuando Salomón terminó el templo del SEÑOR y el palacio real, y logró llevar a cabo todo lo que tenía pensado hacer en el templo del SEÑOR y en su propio palacio, el SEÑOR se le apareció de noche y le dijo: “He escuchado tu oración y he elegido este lugar para mí como templo para los sacrificios.”
“Cuando cierro los cielos para que no llueva, u ordeno a las langostas que devoren la tierra o envíen una plaga entre mi gente, si mi gente, que es llamada por mi nombre, se humillara y orara, y buscara mi rostro y se volviera de sus malos caminos, entonces oiré del cielo, y perdonaré su pecado y sanaré su tierra. Ahora mis ojos estarán abiertos y mis oídos atentos a las oraciones ofrecidas en este lugar. He elegido y consagrado este templo para que mi Nombre pueda estar allí para siempre. Mis ojos y mi corazón siempre estarán allí.
Marcos 11: 15-18
Al llegar a Jerusalén, Jesús entró a los patios del templo y comenzó a expulsar a los que estaban comprando y vendiendo allí. Volcó las mesas de los cambiadores de dinero y los bancos de los que venden palomas, y no permitiría que nadie llevara mercadería a través de los patios del templo. Y mientras les enseñaba, dijo: “¿No está escrito: ‘Mi casa será llamada casa de oración para todas las naciones’? Pero la han convertido en “una cueva de ladrones”. Los principales sacerdotes y los maestros de la ley escucharon esto y comenzaron a buscar una forma de matarlo, porque le temían, porque toda la multitud estaba asombrada de su enseñanza.
1 Corintios 6: 19-20
“¿No sabes que tu cuerpo es un templo para el Espíritu Santo, que está en ti y que has recibido? ¿A quién has recibido de Dios? Tu no te perteneces a ti mismo; Fuiste comprado con un precio, para honrar a Dios con tu cuerpo “.
Puntos que aclarar:
La temporada de la Pascua llevó a los judíos a Jerusalén desde regiones de todo Israel y más allá. Los adoradores se dirigieron al templo para orar, ofrecer sacrificios y dejar ofrendas.
Comerciantes inteligentes y cambiadores de dinero, reconociendo la oportunidad de obtener ganancias, se posicionaron dentro de los patios del templo para vender animales por sacrificar e intercambiar bienes por monedas. Proporcionaron conveniencia a las personas y su
presencia se había aceptado fácilmente. La gente no parecía entender que tanto el vendedor como el adorador estaban disminuyendo la reverencia por el templo de Dios.
Jesús no dice nada a este respecto, pero sus palabras hacen eco a través de sus acciones apasionadas. Debemos amar al Señor nuestro Dios con todo nuestro corazón, mente, alma y fuerza, y debemos amar a nuestro prójimo como nos amamos a nosotros mismos. Cualquier cosa que se contamine o quite de esto debe ser tratada de manera decisiva.
Reflexionar:
¿Cuál es el valor de mantener un espacio sagrado para Dios en nuestras vidas? ¿Reconoce su cuerpo como un templo para el Señor? ¿Qué ha permitido en su vida que se haya vuelto normal y aceptado, que Jesús echaría fuera de ella?
Hable con Dios acerca de lo que le resuena de estas lecturas y reflexiones. ¿Dónde en su vida puede preservar intencionalmente un lugar para Dios? Busque la guía y la fuerza de Dios para hacerlo.
Oración:
Dios misericordioso, mis días se sienten ricos en ocupaciones, pero carentes de plenitud. Sé que te necesito en mi vida. Muéstrame los aspectos de mi persona que aún no te he abierto. Revelame también, las cosas que he permitido en mi vida que te deshonran, y dame la fuerza para lidiar con ellas. Gracias Señor. Amén.

When Solomon had finished the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the Lord and in his own palace, the Lord appeared to him at night and said:
“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices.
“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.
Mark 11:15-18
On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”
The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
Points to clarify:
The Passover season brought Jews to Jerusalem from regions across Israel and beyond. The worshippers went to the temple to pray, offer sacrifices and leave offerings.
Savvy merchants and money changers, recognizing the opportunity for profit, positioned themselves within the temple courtyards to sell sacrificial animals and exchange goods for coin. They provided convenience to people and their presence had been readily accepted. The people did not seem to understand that both the vendor and the worshipper were lessening their reverence for the temple of God.
Jesus says nothing in this regard, but his words echo through his passionate actions. We must love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and we must love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Anything contaminated or taken away from this must be dealt with decisively.
Reflect:
What is the value of maintaining a sacred space for God in our lives? Do you recognize your body as a temple for the Lord? What have you allowed in your life that has become normal and accepted, that Jesus would throw out of it?
Talk to God about what resonates with you from these readings and reflections. Where in your life can you intentionally preserve a place for God? Seek God’s guidance and strength to do so.
Prayer:
Gracious God, my days feel rich with busyness but lacking in fulfillment. I know I need you in my life. Show me the aspects of my person that I have not yet opened to you. Also reveal to me the things I have allowed in my life that dishonor you, and give me the strength to deal with them. Thank you my Lord. Amen.
