Lucas 20: 1-26

Los maestros de la ley y los principales sacerdotes buscaron una forma de arrestarlo de inmediato, porque sabían que había hablado esta parábola en contra de ellos. Pero tenían miedo de la gente. Vigilándolo de cerca, mandaron espías, que pretendían ser sinceros.
Esperaban atrapar a Jesús en algo que él dijo, para que pudieran entregarlo al poder y la autoridad del gobernador. Entonces los espías le preguntaron: “Maestro, sabemos que hablas y enseñas lo que es correcto y que no muestras parcialidad, sino que enseñas el camino de Dios de acuerdo con la verdad. ¿Es correcto que paguemos impuestos a César o no? “Él vio a través de su duplicidad y les dijo:” Muéstrenme un denario. ¿De quién es la imagen y la inscripción? “” De César “, respondieron.
Él les dijo: “Entonces devuélvanle a César lo que es de César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios”. No pudieron atraparlo en lo que él había dicho allí en público. Y asombrados por su respuesta, se callaron.
Puntos para aclarar:
Los fariseos y saduceos habían estado vigilando de cerca a Jesús, buscando formas de desacreditarlo. Lo interrogaban a menudo en un esfuerzo por discernir sus motivos. Cada vez más venían a verlo como una amenaza para su autoridad. Desde su llegada a Jerusalén, Jesús había despertado simultáneamente las esperanzas de la gente y había llamado la atención de los funcionarios romanos. Si esto continuaba, a los líderes judíos les preocupaba perder su influencia o, peor aún, sus vidas si el gobierno romano se estrechara aún más. El intento de atrapar a Jesús aumentó a medida que buscaban maneras de disminuir su credibilidad ante la gente y recuperar su control.
En el evangelio de Juan se nota de Jesús: “Él estaba en el mundo, y aunque el mundo fue creado a través de él, el mundo no lo reconoció”. Llegó a lo que era suyo, pero los suyos no lo recibieron. ”(Juan 1: 10-11). Parecería justo esperar que los fariseos y saduceos, expertos en leyes y enseñanzas judías, estuvieran mejor equipados para reconocer a Jesús como el Mesías. Cuando se enfrentaron con la verdad, se les desafió a mirar atentamente sus propias vidas, creencias y prácticas, y lo rechazaron. En lugar de aceptar la autoridad de Jesús, intentaron destruir su credibilidad para preservar la suya propia.
Reflexionar:
Contemple su vida, creencias y prácticas. ¿De qué manera ha descartado el pecado o el comportamiento justificado que no se alinea con las enseñanzas de Jesús?
Pídale a Jesús que revele ocasiones en su vida cuando descarta el pecado o justifica una conducta que no refleja sus maneras. Pídale que le ayude a alinear su vida con la de él.

Jesús, hoy vengo a ti confesando que tus pensamientos aún no son mis pensamientos, y tus caminos aún no son los míos. Ayúdame a ver aquellas áreas de mi vida que no te honran y dame el coraje y la fuerza para dejarlos ir. Confío en ti, ahora y siempre. Amén.

One day as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the good news, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him. “Tell us by what authority you are doing these things,” they said. “Who gave you this authority?” He replied, “I will also ask you a question. Tell me: John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin?” They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Why didn’t you believe him?’ But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet.” So they answered, “We don’t know where it was from.” Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
He went on to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed. He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed. He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out. “Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.’ “But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. ‘This is the heir,’ they said. ‘Let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.
“What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.”
When the people heard this, they said, “God forbid!”Jesus looked directly at them and asked, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written:
“‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’? Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”
The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people. Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be sincere. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said, so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor.
So the spies questioned him: “Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” He saw through their duplicity and said to them, “Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?”
“Caesar’s,” they replied.
He said to them, “Then give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent.
Points to clarify:
The Pharisees and Sadducees had been keeping a close eye on Jesus, looking for ways to discredit him. They interrogated him often in an effort to discern his motives. More and more came to see him as a threat to his authority. Since his arrival in Jerusalem, Jesus had simultaneously aroused the hopes of the people and had drawn the attention of Roman officials. If this continued, the Jewish leaders worried that they would lose their influence or, worse, their lives if Roman rule tightened even further. The attempt to trap Jesus increased as they looked for ways to diminish their credibility with people and regain their control.
In the Gospel of John it is noted of Jesus: “He was in the world, and though the world was created through him, the world did not recognize him.” He reached what was his, but his own did not receive it. ”(John 1: 10-11). It would seem fair to expect that the Pharisees and Sadducees, experts in Jewish law and teaching, would be better equipped to recognize Jesus as the Messiah. When faced with the truth, they were challenged to take a hard look at their own lives, beliefs, and practices, and they rejected it. Instead of accepting the authority of Jesus, they tried to destroy his credibility in order to preserve their own.

Contemplate his life, beliefs and practices. In what ways have you ruled out sin or justified behavior that does not align with the teachings of Jesus?
Ask Jesus to reveal times in your life when you dismissed sin or justified behavior that did not reflect His ways. Ask Him to help you align your life with His.
Prayer:
Jesus, today I come to you confessing that your thoughts are not yet my thoughts, and your ways are not yet mine. Help me see those areas of my life that do not honor You and give me the courage and strength to let them go. I trust you, now and always. Amen.
