Abraham creyó en lo que Dios le había prometido. Sus circunstancias hacían que fuera totalmente ridículo pensar que él pudiera tener un hijo. A efectos prácticos era como si ya hubiera muerto sin herederos. Su propia esposa se rio ante la idea de que ella, una mujer de noventa años, con el cuerpo envejecido y estéril, pudiera amamantar a su propio hijo. Y aun así, Dios lo había dicho; el mismo Dios que puede devolver la vida incluso a los muertos y crear de la nada cosas que todavía no existen.
La esperanza empieza con las promesas de Dios. Si las dudas, la desesperación o el desánimo amenazan con invadir tu alma, cobra aliento. Tenemos un Dios que ya ha pronunciado palabras de vida y que ciertamente nos revivirá y llevará en sus brazos. La esperanza es creer en la Palabra de Dios y confiar en que todo lo que él ha dicho es verdad.
Oración:
Dios, tú eres el ancla en la que confío. Tengo la certeza de que tú harás todo lo que has dicho, incluso aquello que parece imposible. Elijo creer que tú cumplirás tus promesas.
He Is My Hope
There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. mí? PROVERBS 23:18 NIV
Abraham took God at his word. Everything about his present circumstance made the idea that he would have a son ridiculous. His body was as good as dead. His own wife laughed at the thought that she, a woman of ninety, body worn out and barren, would nurse a child of her own. And yet, God had said it—this God that could give life even to the dead and who could call into existence things that didn’t yet exist.
Hope starts with the promises of God. When doubt, discouragement, or despair threatens your soul, take heart. We have a God that has already spoken words of life and certainty that will prove to both revive and carry us. Hope is taking God at his Word, believing that all he has said is sure.
Prayer:
God, you are my trustworthy anchor. I confidently expect that you will do all you have said you will do—even the things that seem impossible. I choose to believe you for the fulfillment of your promises.
