Entonces Pedro lo llamó: —Señor, si realmente eres tú, ordéname que vaya hacia ti caminando sobre el agua. —Sí, ven —dijo Jesús. Entonces Pedro se bajó por el costado de la barca y caminó sobre el agua hacia Jesús. MATEO 14:28-29
¿Alguna vez has dado un paso con «fe ciega» y has dicho que sí a algo completamente alocado que Dios te ha pedido? El valle de la decisión puede ser largo y complicado, así que cuando finalmente damos el paso de decir que sí, puede que esperemos que todo acabe por salir como queremos casi al momento de acabar de cruzarlo. Pero cuando Dios te llama a salir de la barca y a caminar sobre el agua con él, no puedes esperar que haya tierra firme bajo tus pies. El agua nunca será como un suelo asfaltado. Entonces, ¿por qué nos sorprenden las olas enfurecidas que en cualquier momento nos pueden barrer? Las circunstancias de la vida nunca serán algo controlado. Nuestros planes jamás saldrán bien sin ningún tipo de dificultad. Al fin y al cabo, estamos intentando andar sobre el agua. Pero, si tenemos los ojos fijos en los suyos, podremos cruzar incluso por las aguas más bravas como si de tierra firme se tratara.
Oración:
Señor, haz que mantenga la mirada puesta en ti, para que cuando salga en fe como respuesta a tu llamado, ande por las aguas más complicadas como si mis pies estuvieran sobre tierra firme.
Water Isn’t Concrete
Peter said, “Lord, if it is really you, then command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus said, “Come.” And Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. MATTHEW 14:28-29
Have you ever stepped out in “blind faith” and said yes to something crazy that God called you to? The valley of decision can be long and difficult, so when we finally take that step of saying yes, we can expect everything to come together almost instantly on the other side.
But, when God calls you to get out of the boat, to walk on the water with him,—you can’t expect to step out onto solid ground. Water will never be concrete. Why are we surprised at the raging waves that at any moment could sweep us under? The circumstances in life are never going to be sure. Our plans are never going to go off without a hitch. After all, we’re trying to walk on water. But if we keep our eyes focused on his, we can walk across even the most tempestuous waters, as if they were simply solid ground.
Prayer:
Lord, keep my eyes locked on you so that when I step out in faith in response to your calling, I will walk on even the most difficult waters as if my feet were planted on solid ground.
