¿Por qué los cristianos celebran la acción de gracias?
Para mucha gente, Acción de Gracias no significa lo que solía significar.
Celebrar en los Estados Unidos el cuarto jueves de noviembre, el Día de Acción de Gracias es un día festivo nacional en el que las personas viajan a sus casas para comer una gran comida de pavo, puré de papas, pastel de calabaza y más.
Es un momento en que las familias se reúnen y disfrutan estar juntas. Y para algunos estadounidenses, eso es todo: un día libre de trabajo, mucha comida y diversión, y ver el fútbol americano en la televisión. Pero para los cristianos, el Día de Acción de Gracias es mucho más que eso.
Es recordar las bendiciones de Dios.
Pero para aquellos que confían en Cristo, recuerdan que la familia y los alimentos que disfrutan no vinieron a ellos solo por su propio trabajo.
El día festivo de Acción de Gracias se celebra dentro y fuera de los Estados Unidos desde 1789 y el presidente Abraham Lincoln lo convirtió en un día festivo nacional regular en 1863. El motivo del día festivo es recordar las bendiciones de Dios, especialmente la provisión y el cuidado de Dios para los peregrinos, primeros los colonos europeos en América. Al llegar de Inglaterra en 1620, este grupo de cristianos buscaba una tierra para hacer una nueva vida para ellos, donde pudieran adorar a Dios en libertad. Sin embargo, llegaron a América del Norte demasiado tarde para plantar alimentos para la cosecha y tenían poca comida para comer durante su primer invierno frío y nevado en la Colonia de la Bahía de Massachusetts. Muchos de ellos murieron durante ese invierno, pero en la primavera, los indios nativos americanos les ayudaron a plantar maíz, frijoles y calabacines. Cuando llegó el momento de la cosecha, los peregrinos tenían una gran cantidad de alimentos. Había mucho para comer e invitaron a sus nuevos amigos, los indios nativos americanos locales, a celebrar con ellos. Tuvieron una gran fiesta y elogiaron a Dios por ayudarlos a sobrevivir el invierno y por brindar nuevos amigos y abundante comida. Tenían mucho sufrimiento, pero ahora era el momento de regocijarse y alegrarse. No habían sobrevivido por sí mismos, pero recibieron la ayuda de Dios Todopoderoso, quien los había traído a esta nueva tierra para adorarlo en espíritu y en verdad.
Ahora en estos tiempos para los que confiamos en Cristo, recuerdan que la familia y los alimentos que disfrutan no vinieron a ellos solo por su propio trabajo. Todas las bendiciones que tienen son bendiciones de lo alto. Dios es nuestro creador y proveedor, y es correcto y bueno agradecerle regularmente por todo lo que nos da, como dice la Biblia:
1 Tesalonicenses 5:18
“Den las gracias en todas las circunstancias; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para ti en Cristo Jesús.”
Es una bendición tener una familia pero es una bendición más grande tener la familia que tenemos en Cristo, como nos dice que Jesús dijo en
Marcos 35:32-35
Y la gente que estaba sentada alrededor de él le dijo: Tu madre y tus hermanos están afuera, y te buscan. Él les respondió diciendo: ¿Quién es mi madre y mis hermanos? Y mirando a los que estaban sentados alrededor de él, dijo: He aquí mi madre y mis hermanos. Porque todo aquel que hace la voluntad de Dios, ese es mi hermano, y mi hermana, y mi madre.
Hay mucho porque estar agradecidos, el Señor sabe que es lo que necesitamos y el nos lo provee también a través de nuestra familia en Cristo.

▪︎Ahora que estamos finalizando este año, ¿porqué estarías agradecido? Reconociendo que este año, hubo un cambio rotundo a nivel mundial, a causa de la pandemia.
Oración:
¡Padre Celestial, Dios de grandes Misericordias y lleno de bondad eres tu, grande en Poderío y Majestad, Gloria sean dadas a ti mi Señor! En este nuevo día estamos muy agradecidos por regalarnos vida y muchas bendiciones y poder estar aquí aun de pie en unión con todos nuestros familiares, este año nos ha sorprendido mucho, una pandemia que vino sin piedad arrebatando vidas y causando dolor, un tiempo de altas y bajas; pero tu brazo de poder nos ha levantado, tu amor nos ha sustentado, el bálsamo de Sanidad nos ha liberado, nos tomaste en tus brazos y nos regalaste de tu paz, ¡como no agradecerte, oh Dios Grandes son tus obras y grandes tus maravillas, te damos las gracias y te bendecimos en el nombre de Jesús, Amén!

Why do Christians celebrate thanksgiving?
For many people, Thanksgiving doesn’t mean what it used to.
Celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving is a national holiday where people travel home to eat a great meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, and more.
It is a time when families come together and enjoy being together. And for some Americans, that’s it: a day off from work, lots of food and fun, and watching football on TV. But for Christians, Thanksgiving is much more than that.
It is remembering the blessings of God.
But for those who trust Christ, they remember that family and the foods they enjoy didn’t come to them just because of their own work.
The Thanksgiving holiday has been celebrated in and outside the United States since 1789 and was made a regular national holiday by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. The reason for the holiday is to remember God’s blessings, especially the provision and God’s care for the pilgrims, the first European settlers in America. Arriving from England in 1620, this group of Christians was looking for a land to make a new life for themselves, where they could worship God in freedom. However, they arrived in North America too late to plant food for the harvest and had little food to eat during their first cold, snowy winter in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Many of them died that winter, but in the spring, Native American Indians helped them plant corn, beans, and zucchini. When the harvest time came, the pilgrims had a large quantity of food. There was plenty to eat and they invited their new friends, the local Native American Indians, to celebrate with them. They had a great party and praised God for helping them survive the winter and for providing new friends and plenty of food. They had a lot of suffering, but now was the time to rejoice. They had not survived on their own, but they received help from Almighty God, who had brought them to this new earth to worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Now in these times for those of us who trust in Christ, they remember that family and the foods they enjoy didn’t come to them just because of their own work. All the blessings you have are blessings from on high. God is our creator and provider, and it is right and good to thank Him regularly for all that He gives us, as the Bible says:
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
It is a blessing to have a family but it is a greater blessing to have the family that we have in Christ, as Jesus tells us in
Mark 35: 32-35
And the people who were sitting around him said: Your mother and your brothers are outside, and they are looking for you. He answered them saying: Who are my mother and my brothers? And looking at those who were seated around him, he said: Here are my mother and my brothers. Because everyone who does the will of God, that is my brother, and my sister, and my mother.
There is much to be thankful for, the Lord knows what we need and He also provides it for us through our family in Christ.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, God of great Mercies and full of goodness are You, great in Power and Majesty, Glory be to You my Lord! On this new day we are very grateful for giving us life and many blessings and being able to be here still standing in union with all our relatives, this year has surprised us a lot, a pandemic that came mercilessly taking lives and causing pain, a time of high and low; but Gour arm of power has lifted us up, Your love has sustained us, the healing balm has freed us, You took us in Your arms and gave us Your peace, how can we not thank You, oh God, great are Your works and great are Your wonders, we thank You and we bless You in the name of Jesus, Amen!
