Pablo fue fiel, sin embargo, terminó en la cárcel. Juan el Bautista fue fiel y lo decapitaron. Millones de fieles han sido martirizados, lo han perdido todo o han llegado al ocaso de sus días sin nada material. ¡Pero el fin de la vida no es el final!
A los ojos de Dios, los grandes héroes de la fe no son los que han logrado prosperidad, éxito y poder en esta vida, sino aquellos que la ven como una asignación temporal y sirven fielmente, esperando su recompensa en la eternidad. La Biblia dice lo siguiente del Salón de la Fama de Dios: «Todas esas personas murieron sin haber recibido las cosas que Dios había prometido; pero como tenían fe, las vieron de lejos, y las saludaron reconociéndose a sí mismos como extranjeros de paso por este mundo… Pero ellos deseaban una patria mejor, es decir, la patria celestial. Por eso, Dios no se avergüenza de ser llamado el Dios de ellos, pues les tiene preparada una ciudad». Tu vida en la tierra no es toda la historia de tu existencia. Debes esperar llegar al cielo para el resto de los capítulos. Se requiere fe para vivir en la tierra como un extranjero.
Un antiguo relato cuenta de un misionero que al jubilarse volvía a su casa en los Estados Unidos en el mismo barco en que viajaba el presidente de esa nación. La algarabía de la muchedumbre, una banda militar, una alfombra roja, pancartas y los medios de comunicación le dieron la bienvenida al presidente, mientras que el misionero desembarcaba sin notoriedad alguna. Sintiendo lástima de sí mismo, y con resentimiento, comenzó a quejarse con Dios. Entonces el Señor le dijo con ternura: «Pero hijo mío, tú aún no has llegado a casa».
No llegarás a casa hasta dos segundos antes que solloces: «¿Por qué le di tanta importancia a las cosas que eran temporales? ¿En qué estaba pensando? ¿Por qué perdí tanto tiempo, esfuerzo e interés en algo que no iba a durar?».
Cuando la vida se pone difícil, cuando te embarga la duda o cuando te cuestionas si vale la pena sacrificarse viviendo para Cristo, recuerda que aún no has llegado a casa. En el momento de la muerte no dejarás tu hogar, más bien irás a casa.

Pensando en mi propósito
PUNTO DE REFLEXIÓN: Este mundo no es mi hogar.

Day 6/ Part 4th – Life Is a Temporary Assignment
You’re cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. JAMES 4:4 (MSG)
Paul was faithful, yet he ended up in prison. John the Baptist was faithful, but he was beheaded. Millions of faithful people have been martyred, have lost everything, or have come to the end of life with nothing to show for it. But the end of life is not the end!
In God’s eyes, the greatest heroes of faith are not those who achieve prosperity, success, and power in this life, but those who treat this life as a temporary assignment and serve faithfully, expecting their promised reward in eternity. The Bible says this about God’s Hall of Fame: “All these great people died in faith. They did not get the things that God promised his people, but they saw them coming far in the future and were glad. They said they were like visitors and strangers on earth. . . . they were waiting for a better country — a heavenly country. So God is not ashamed to be called their God, because he has prepared a city for them.” Your time on earth is not the complete story of your life. You must wait until heaven for the rest of the chapters. It takes faith to live on earth as a foreigner.
An old story Is often repeated of a retiring missionary coming home to America on the same boat as the president of the United States. Cheering crowds, a military band, a red carpet, banners, and the media welcomed the president home, but the missionary slipped off the ship unnoticed. Feeling self-pity and resentment, he began complaining to God. Then God gently reminded him, “But my child, you’re not home yet.”
You will not be in heaven two seconds before you cry out, “Why did I place so much importance on things that were so temporary? What was I thinking? Why did I waste so much time, energy, and concern on what wasn’t going to last?”
When life gets tough, when you’re overwhelmed with doubt, or when you wonder if living for Christ is worth the effort, remember that you are not home yet. At death you won’t leave home — you’ll go home.
