Y los bendijo Dios con estas palabras… ¡… llenen la tierra! ¡Domínenla! ¡Sean los señores de los peces del mar, de las aves de los cielos, y de todos los seres que reptan sobre la tierra! (GÉNESIS 1.28, RVC)
Algunos amigos me dejan usar su hermosa casa en la playa de Hawái para pasar las vacaciones. Me dijeron: «Úsala como si fuera tuya». ¡Y así lo hice! Nadé en la piscina, comí la comida que había en la nevera, usé las toallas y los platos. Hasta brinqué sobre las camas solo por divertirme. Pero lo cuidé todo muy bien, porque todo le pertenecía a otra persona.
Cuando Dios creó a Adán y Eva, les dijo que cuidaran de su creación. Este fue el primer trabajo que Dios les encomendó a los seres humanos: administrar las “cosas” de Dios en la tierra. Y sigue siendo parte de nuestro trabajo hoy día. Dios confía en que trataremos bien su propiedad: animales, plantas, nuestro cuerpo y a otras personas. Dios ha puesto todo esto en nuestras manos. La Biblia declara: «¿Y qué tienes que Dios no te haya dado? Y si él te lo ha dado, ¿por qué presumes, como si lo hubieras conseguido por ti mismo?» (1 Corintios 4.7b, DHH).
Dado que Dios es el propietario de todas las cosas, cuidemos de ellas lo mejor que podamos.
Oración:
Señor, entiendo que nos encomendaste el trabajo de cuidar de tu creación. Esta es sumamente hermosa y detallada, y te doy las gracias por poder disfrutar también de ella mientras la administramos.
Day 48 • Careful, That’s Not Yours
God blessed them and said, “… Fill the earth and be its master. Rule over the fish in the sea and over the birds in the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
(GENESIS 1:28, NCV)
Some friends let me use their beautiful home on the beach in Hawaii for a vacation. They told me, “Use it just like it’s yours.” So I did! I swam in the pool, ate the food in the refrigerator, used the towels and dishes. I even jumped on the beds for fun! But I took good care of everything because it all belonged to someone else.
When God created Adam and Eve, he told them to take care of his creation. This was the first job God gave to humans—manage God’s “stuff” on Earth. It is still part of our job today. God trusts us to treat his property well—animals, plants, our bodies, and other people. God has placed all this in our hands. The Bible says, “What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?” (1 Corinthians 4:7b, NLT)
Since God owns everything, let’s take care of it the best that we can.
Prayer:
I realize you gave us the job of taking care of your creation, God. Your creation is so beautiful and detailed, and I thank you that we can enjoy it too while we manage it.
