[Jesús] le dijo a Simón [Pedro]: «Ahora ve a las aguas más profundas y echa tus redes para pescar». «Maestro —respondió Simón—, hemos trabajado mucho durante toda la noche y no hemos pescado nada; pero si tú lo dices, echaré las redes nuevamente». (LUCAS 5.4–5, NTV)
Jesús les dijo a los discípulos dónde tenían que pescar, qué tenían que pescar y cómo pescar. Simón Pedro siguió sus instrucciones.
La reacción de Simón Pedro a las palabras de Cristo fue perfecta. Primero, no discutió. No respondió: «¡Espera un momento, Jesús! Yo soy el mejor pescador de este lago. ¿Quién eres tú para decirme cómo debo de pescar?». No preguntó: «¿Estás seguro, Señor?». Tampoco vaciló.
En segundo lugar, no prestó atención a sus sentimientos. Estoy seguro que estaba muy cansado por trabajar toda la noche; sin embargo, no cuestionó: «¿De qué va a servir? ¿Para qué tengo que seguir?». Pedro estaba ansioso por colaborar con el plan de Dios. Cuando lo hizo, Dios derramó bendición. Simón Pedro pescó tantos peces que sus redes empezaron a romperse.
¿Estás listo para escuchar y obedecer las instrucciones de Dios? Cuando él guía tu vida, no puedes fracasar.
Oración:
Señor, no siempre resulta fácil escuchar tus instrucciones, pero tú sabes qué es lo mejor para mí. Ayúdame a obedecer y a estar ansioso por seguir tus planes.
Day 38
[Jesus] said to Simon [Peter], “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” (LUKE 5:4–5)
Jesus told the disciples where to fish, when to fish, and how to fish. Simon Peter followed his instructions.
Simon Peter’s reaction to Christ was perfect. First, he didn’t argue. He didn’t say, “Wait a minute, Jesus! I’m the best fisherman on this lake. Who are you to tell me how to fish?” He didn’t ask, “Lord, are you sure?” He also didn’t hesitate.
Second, he didn’t listen to his feelings. I’m sure he was dog-tired from working all night, but he didn’t ask, “What’s the use? Why should I keep on going?” Peter was eager to cooperate with God’s plan. When he did, God poured out blessing. Simon Peter caught so many fish that his nets started to break.
Are you ready to obey as you listen to God’s instructions? When God is guiding your life, you cannot fail.
Prayer: God, it is not always easy to listen to your instructions, but you know what is best for me. Help me to obey and be eager to follow your plans.
