Esta vida no es todo lo que hay. La vida en la tierra es como el ensayo general antes de una obra de teatro o de un concierto.
Pasarás muchísimo más tiempo al otro lado de la muerte —en la eternidad— que aquí. La tierra es como el preescolar o la prueba atlética para tu vida después de la muerte. Es como los partidos de entrenamientos antes del partido real o el calentamiento antes de empezar la carrera. Esta vida es la preparación para la siguiente.
Como mucho, vivirás un centenar de años en la tierra, pero vivirás para siempre en la eternidad. Fuiste hecho para durar a perpetuidad.
Aunque sabemos que todos acabaremos por morir en la tierra, la muerte siempre parece poco natural e injusta. Y la razón por la que sentimos que deberíamos vivir para siempre es que Dios programó nuestro cerebro con ese deseo. Tienes un instinto natural que anhela vivir eternamente. Esto se debe a que Dios te diseñó a su imagen.
Oración:
Señor, gracias por haberme creado para vivir eternamente. Ayúdame a recordarlo cuando mis problemas sobre la tierra parezcan demasiado grandes o temibles. La vida consta de mucho más de lo que podemos ver ahora.
Day 37 • Wired to Last
He has also set eternity in the human heart. (ECCLESIASTES 3:11B)
This life is not all there is. Life on Earth is like a dress rehearsal before a play or concert.
You will spend far more time on the other side of death—in eternity—than you will here. Earth is like the preschool or the try-out for your life after death. It is the practice workout before the actual game or the warm-up jog before the race begins. This life is preparation for the next.
At most, you will live a hundred years on Earth, but you will spend forever in eternity. You were made to last forever.
Even though we know everyone eventually dies on Earth, death always seems unnatural and unfair. The reason we feel we should live forever is that God wired our brains with that desire. You have a natural instinct that longs to live forever. This is because God designed you in his image.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you that you created me to live forever. Help me to remember that when my problems on Earth feel too big or scary. There is so much more to life than what I can see now.
