Pídele a tu mamá o a tu papá que hagan un experimento contigo. Agarra una linterna. Dirígete a una habitación que puedas dejar totalmente a oscuras. Echa las cortinas y cierra las puertas, pon almohadas o toallas delante de cualquier rendija. Pregúntale a todo el que esté en la habitación qué ven cuando se enciende la linterna. Por pequeña que sea la luz, siempre se manifiesta más que la oscuridad. Pero si apagas la linterna o la escondes debajo de algo, solo verás tinieblas.
¿Sabías que Jesús se definió a sí mismo como la luz del mundo? Eclipsa el pecado y la oscuridad; ninguna de estas cosas puede apagar la luz de Jesús. Expone la verdad del bien y del mal. Dondequiera que va Jesús, resplandece una luz. Lo triste es que muchos no quieren ver su luz y corren para alejarse de él. Del mismo modo en que se tapan las rendijas de una habitación con toallas y almohadas, ellos cubren la luz.
Si le has dicho a Jesús que quieres seguirlo, dondequiera que vayas llevas su luz, como una linterna en una habitación oscura.
Oración:
Jesús, la luz es poderosa. Me ayuda a ver mi ropa, lo que hay en mi plato durante la comida, y por donde caminar. Tu luz es incluso más poderosa. Déjame llevar tu luz a los lugares oscuros para ayudar a otras personas a descubrir tu verdad.
Day 35 • Light the Darkness
In him [Jesus] was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
(JOHN 1:4−5)
Ask your mom or dad to do an experiment with you. Grab a flashlight. Head to a room that you can make completely dark. Shut the curtains and doors, and put pillows or towels in front of any cracks. It has to be absolutely black. After a few minutes, turn on the flashlight. Ask everyone in the room what they see once the flashlight is on. Light, even the smallest one, always shows up more than the darkness. But if you shut off the flashlight or hide it under something, the darkness will be all you see.
Did you know Jesus called himself the light of the world? He outshines sin and darkness—neither can put out Jesus. He exposes the truth of good and evil. Wherever Jesus goes, he shines a light. The sad thing is that many people don’t want to see Jesus’ light, so they run away from him. Like shoving towels and pillows into cracks in a room, they shut out the light.
If you’ve told Jesus that you want to follow him, everywhere you go you take his light—just like a flashlight in a pitch-black room.
Prayer:
Jesus, light is powerful. It helps me see my clothes, what’s on my plate at dinner, and where to walk. Your light is even more powerful. Let me take your light to dark places and help people discover your truth.
