¡Ponme a prueba, Señor! ¡Examíname! ¡Escudriña mis anhelos y mis pensamientos!
(SALMOS 26.2, RVC)
El rey David le pidió a Dios que lo pusiera a prueba. ¿Quién, en su sano juicio, pediría ser probado? ¿Irías tú a clase y le pedirías a tu maestro que te hiciera un examen para demostrar lo bien que estás aprendiendo matemáticas? Ni siquiera los adultos les piden a sus jefes que les haga pasar una prueba. Desde luego no le pedirías a tu madre ni a tu padre que probaran tus aptitudes para la limpieza. (Sin embargo, sí podrías pedirles que repasaran tus deberes antes de presentarlos para nota).
Bueno, David había estado sirviendo al Señor durante años, pero su vida se estaba volviendo bastante dura. De modo que le preguntó a Dios por qué la vida era tan difícil cuando él estaba sirviéndolo con fidelidad. David confiaba en su relación con el Señor. Sabía que Dios sería sincero con él y que honraba a las personas que seguían sus caminos. Era, asimismo, consciente de que había vivido de la forma correcta y que había estado estudiando la Palabra de Dios. Por ello, David solicitó: «Ponme a prueba».
De vez en cuando no es mala idea pedir una prueba. Podría parecer una locura. Sin embargo, permitir que Dios te pruebe —y estar listo para su nota— te ayudará a ver si estás viviendo según sus caminos. Incluso podrías pedirles a tus padres, o a un amigo cercano, que te hagan un mini examen sobre cómo te estás comportando cuando la vida se hace difícil. Pueden ayudarte a aprender cómo tratar con la aflicción y los problemas de una forma inteligente que te hará conseguir tu calificación.
Oración
Señor, no estoy seguro de estar preparado para que me pongas a prueba, pero quiero aprender más de ti y de tu Palabra, para acudir a ti cuando la vida se vuelve difícil y perseverar en tus caminos.
Day 188 • Test Me, Please
Test me, LORD, and try me, examine my heart and my mind.
(PSALM 26:2)
King David asked God to test him. Who in their right mind asks for a test? Would you go to class and ask your teacher to give you a test to show how well you are learning math? Even adults don’t ask their bosses to test them. You certainly wouldn’t ask your mom or dad to test your cleaning abilities. (But you might ask them to check your homework before you turn it in for a grade.)
Well, David had been serving the Lord, but his life was getting pretty tough. So he asked God why life was so hard when he was faithfully serving God. David was confident in his relationship with the Lord. He knew God would be honest with him and that he honored people who followed his ways. He also knew he’d been living right and studying God’s Word. So David said, “Check me out.”
Every now and then, it’s a good idea to ask for a test. That may sound crazy. But letting God test you—and being ready for his grade—will help you see if you are living by his ways. You might even ask your parents or a close friend for a mini test on how you’re doing when life gets tough. They can help you learn how to deal with trouble and problems in a way that is smart and makes the grade.
Prayer
God, I’m not sure if I’m ready for you to test me, but I want to learn more about you and your Word so when life is hard, I will turn to you and continue to follow your ways.
