Entonces Jesús afirmó: Ciertamente les aseguro que el hijo no puede hacer nada por su propia cuenta, sino solamente lo que ve que su padre hace, porque cualquier cosa que hace el padre, la hace también el hijo.

Al crecer, la mayoría de los niños observan a sus padres, sus abuelos, sus cuidadoras en la guardería, sus padres adoptivos y maestros, y siguen el ejemplo y los consejos de los adultos de su entorno que captan más su atención.
Jesús hizo lo mismo. Enseguida indicó a las multitudes que solo estaba haciendo lo que su Padre celestial hacía. Lo que Jesús estaba enseñando era exactamente lo que había aprendido de Dios. De modo que cuando sanaba a alguien que estaba sufriendo, solo se estaba comportando igual que su Padre.
Sin embargo, a diferencia de los niños, Jesús y su Padre son en realidad lo mismo. Esta era la forma en que él señalaba que es Dios, solo que en forma humana. Cuando eras pequeño e imitabas a un adulto, estabas fingiendo. Pero Jesús no pretende ser Dios. Él es verdaderamente Dios. Cuando lees los evangelios y ves todo lo que Jesús hizo, en realidad estás viendo el corazón de Dios y no una mera imitación.
Oración
Señor, me gusta la forma en que tratabas a las personas y nos mostrabas los caminos de Dios. Quiero imitarte en las cosas que hago y digo.
Day 187 • Mimic Me
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. (JOHN 5:19)
Growing up, most children watch their parents, grandparents, daycare providers, foster parents, and teachers, and they follow and take cues from the adult examples that are strongest around them.
Jesus did the same thing. He was quick to point out to the crowds that he was only doing what his heavenly Father did. What Jesus was teaching was the very thing he learned from God. So when Jesus healed someone who was suffering, he was behaving like his Father.
But unlike children, Jesus and his Father are really the same. This was Jesus’ way of saying that he is God, just in human form. When you were little and mimicked an adult, it was pretending. But Jesus isn’t pretending to be God. He really is God. When you read the gospels and look at everything Jesus did, you are actually seeing into the heart of God, not just an imitation.
Prayer
Lord, I like the way you treated people and showed us God’s ways. I want to imitate you in the things I do and say.
