Pues Dios conoció a los suyos de antemano y los eligió para que llegaran a ser como su Hijo, a fin de que su Hijo fuera el hijo mayor de muchos hermanos.

¿Has oído alguna vez la frase «De tal palo, tal astilla»? Se refiere al parecido familiar. Me produce una inmensa felicidad que otras personas vean a mis hijos actuar como yo o parecerse a mí. A Dios le ocurre lo mismo contigo.
Solo los seres humanos son hechos a imagen de Dios. ¡Es genial! A continuación encontrarás unas cuantas maneras en que somos como él:
- Nuestro espíritu sobrevivirá a nuestro cuerpo terrenal.
- Podemos pensar, razonar y resolver problemas.
- Podemos dar y recibir amor de verdad.
- Podemos discernir el bien del mal.
Cada persona posee parte de la imagen de Dios. Sin embargo, esta ha sido perjudicada por el pecado. Por ello, él envió a Jesús con la misión de restaurar la imagen completa que habíamos perdido.
¿Cómo es la imagen completa de Dios? ¡Es como Jesucristo! La Biblia declara que Jesús es «la imagen exacta de Dios», «la imagen visible del Dios invisible» y «la fiel imagen de lo que él es» (2 Corintios 4.4; Colosenses 1.15; Hebreos 1.3).
Dios quiere que sus hijos también lleven su imagen y su semejanza. Quiere que crezcas espiritualmente y llegues a ser como Cristo.
Oración
Señor, no había comprendido lo que significa estar hecho a tu imagen, ¡pero en realidad es genial! Gracias por crearme. Ayúdame a crecer hasta llegar a ser más como tú.
Day 186 • Family Resemblance
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (ROMANS 8:29, NLT)
Ever heard someone say, “Like father, like son”? They’re talking about a family resemblance. When people see my kids acting or looking like me, it makes me happy. God feels the same way about you.
Only human beings are made in God’s image. How cool! Here are a few ways we are like God:
- Our spirits will outlast our earthly bodies.
- We can think, reason, and solve problems.
- We can give and receive real love.
- We can figure out right from wrong.
Every single person possesses part of the image of God. But his image has been damaged by sin. So God sent Jesus on a mission to restore the full image that we have lost.
What does the full image of God look like? It looks like Jesus Christ! The Bible says Jesus is “the exact likeness of God,” “the visible image of the invisible God,” and “the exact representation of his being” (2 Corinthians 4:4; Colossians 1:15; Hebrews 1:3).
God wants his children to bear his image and likeness too. He wants you to grow up spiritually and become like Christ.
Prayer
God, I didn’t get what it meant to be made in your image, but it’s actually pretty cool! Thank you for making me. Help me grow to become more like you.
