Si se nos arroja al horno en llamas, el Dios al que servimos puede librarnos del horno y de las manos de Su Majestad. Pero aun si nuestro Dios no lo hace así, sepa usted que no honraremos a sus dioses ni adoraremos a su estatua.

¡Hablando de tipos con agallas! Sadrac, Mesac y Abednego no cedieron. Ya los habían apresado. Habían perdido sus familias y sus hogares. Hasta donde sabemos, solo se tenían unos a otros —y a Dios—; solo podían contar consigo mismos. No obstante, para ellos eso era suficiente. Los buenos amigos y un buen Dios eran lo último que les quedaba en la vida.
El rey Nabucodonosor estaba a cargo, y ¡esperaba que todos obedecieran cualquier cosa que dijera! Pero estos tres amigos no iban a traicionar su fe, a su Dios ni a su país. No tenían nada que perder, de modo que de ninguna de las maneras iban a sacrificar su fe.
¿Cuántas agallas tienes? ¿Le harías frente a un maestro severo o a un amigo difícil? Esto no parece fácil. No hay diversión en arriesgarse a no gustarles a los demás, a ser rechazado o herido. Estos tres amigos de la época de Daniel son un gran ejemplo de lo asombroso que es Dios. Quiere demostrarte lo sorprendente que es, para que en caso de tenerte que enfrentar a algo como lo que afrontaron Sadrac, Mesac y Abednego no tengas la menor duda de cuál será tu respuesta. ¡Tus agallas te lo dirán!
Oración
¡Vaya, Señor! Desconozco si tengo las agallas para arriesgarme a enfrentarme a semejantes amenazas por ti. Enséñame más sobre tu genialidad, y proporcióname buenos amigos para que nunca dude de que tú eres mejor que cualquier riesgo terrenal.
Day 176 – It Takes Guts
If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.
(DANIEL 3:17–18)
Talk about gutsy guys! Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would not budge. They had already been taken captive. They’d already lost their families and their homes. As far as we know, they only had each other—and God—to count on. But that was plenty for them. Good friends and a good God were the last things standing in their lives.
King Nebuchadnezzar was in charge, and he expected everyone to obey everything he said! But these three friends were not going to betray their faith, their God, or their country. They had nothing left to lose, so they certainly weren’t going to sacrifice their faith.
How gutsy are you? Would you stand up to a harsh teacher or a tough friend? That doesn’t sound easy. It’s no fun to risk others not liking you or being shunned or hurt. These three friends from Daniel’s day are a great example of how awesome God is. He wants to show you what an amazing God he is, so that if you ever face something like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did, you’ll have no doubt what your answer will be. Your guts will tell you!
Prayer
Wow, God, I don’t know if I have the guts to risk standing up for you in the face of such threats. Teach me more about your awesomeness, and provide me with good friends so that I never doubt you are better than any earthly risk.
