Piensa en tu lugar favorito o en un sitio que de verdad, de verdad, querrías visitar. ¿Te gustaría vivir en Disney World todo un año e ir al parque gratis todos los días? ¡Desde luego! Tal vez querrías vivir en Hawái, nadar y surfear cada día.
El rey David tenía un lugar preferido, pero no es el que uno esperaría en un rey. Él amaba por completo la casa de Dios. A David le encantaba adorar a Dios y hablar con él. Cuando se encontraba allí, no podía imaginar ningún otro sitio donde le gustara más estar.
Esto podría sonar a locura, porque para ti la iglesia podría no parecerte el mejor puedas hacer. Incluso es normal que algunas veces temas ir allí. No obstante, la próxima vez pídele a Dios que te ayude a ser consciente de su presencia cuando estés allí. Una vez comprendas lo que él quiere que tú experimentes en su casa, Disney World no tendrá ni comparación.
Esto es lo que David te diría: «De haber podido, habría pasado cada día en la casa de Dios». ¿Será esto una de tus prioridades?
Oración
Señor, quiero experimentar el estar en tu presencia, ya sea en la iglesia o cuando estoy en casa hablando contigo. Me gustaría conocer el mismo asombro y sobrecogimiento que David sentía cuando pasaba tiempo contigo.
Day 170 • God’s House
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
(PSALM 84:10)
Think about your favorite place to be or a place that you really, really want to visit. Would you love to live at Disney World year-round and go to the park every day for free? Totally! Maybe you want to live in Hawaii and swim and surf every day.
King David had a favorite place, but it wasn’t what you would expect from a king. He absolutely loved God’s house. David loved to worship and talk with God. When he was there, he couldn’t imagine any other place he would rather be.
That might sound crazy, because church may not seem like the best place on Earth to you. It’s even normal if you dread going sometimes. Next time, though, ask God to help you be aware of his presence when you are there. Once you understand what he wants you to experience in his house, Disney World won’t even compare.
That’s what David would tell you. If he could have, he would have spent every day in God’s house. Will it ever be on the top of your list?
Prayer
God, I want to experience being in your presence, either at church or when I’m at home talking to you. I’d like to know the same wonder and awe that David felt when he spent time with you.
