¿Qué te costaría más, compartir una galleta si solo tuvieras dos o compartir tres si solo tuvieras seis? A menos que no te gusten las galletas, sería más difícil renunciar a una si te quedaras solo con otra. Ahora piensa en la persona a la que más amas de todas. Si tuvieras que compartir con tu persona favorita, ¿te sentirías mejor renunciando a esa galleta?
La medida en que amas a alguien dificulta o facilita el compartir. También lo hace cuánto tengas. Jesús señaló a una pobre mujer que apenas tenía nada.
De hecho, cuando ofrendó en el templo, renunció a lo último que le quedaba. Sin embargo, amaba tanto a Dios que no le importó sacrificar sus últimas monedas para él. Dar o compartir cuando solo tienes un poco se denomina sacrificio. A Dios le gusta el sacrificio. Puede ser que te lo pida muchas veces durante tu vida. No siempre estarás dispuesto a dar lo que posees. El sacrificio es, a menudo, algo difícil de hacer. No obstante, cuando el amor llena tu corazón, te sientes feliz de compartir con los demás.
Oración:
Señor, el sacrificio no parece tan malo si puedo escoger con quien compartirlo. Sin embargo, sería difícil renunciar a algo que me guste realmente o compartir con alguien que no me guste. Llena mi corazón de amor por ti y por los demás, para que pueda dar con alegría cuando tú me lo pidas.
Day 150 • Share a Little or a Lot
All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on. (LUKE 21:4)
Which would be harder: sharing one cookie if you only had two or sharing three cookies if you only had six? Unless you don’t like cookies, it’d be harder to give up one cookie if it left you with only one. Now, think about the person you love the most in the whole world. If you had to share with your favorite person, would you feel better giving up the one cookie?
How much you love someone makes it harder or easier to share. So does how much you have. Jesus pointed out a poor woman who had almost nothing. In fact, when she gave money to God at the temple, she gave away the last of her cash! But she loved God so much that she didn’t mind sacrificing her last coins to him. Giving or sharing when you only have a little bit is called sacrifice. God loves sacrifice. He may ask for a sacrifice from you many times in your life. You won’t always want to give away what you own. Sacrifice is often hard to do. When love fills your heart, though, you’ll be happy to share with others.
Prayer:
God, sacrifice doesn’t sound so bad if I get to choose whom I share it with. But it would be hard to give up something I really like or to share with someone I don’t like. Fill my heart with love for you and for others so that I will gladly give when you ask me to.
