Si todo el cuerpo fuera ojo, ¿qué sería del oído? Si todo el cuerpo fuera oído, ¿qué sería del olfato? En realidad, Dios colocó cada miembro del cuerpo como mejor le pareció.

¿Sería descabellado que tu nariz decidiera hablar y mandara a tu boca a freír espárragos? «Estás haciendo un pésimo trabajo», le recrimina. «¡Este cuerpo estaría mucho mejor sin ti!». Primero, creerías estar soñando, porque nunca antes habías oído hablar a tu nariz (¡eso es trabajo de la boca!). En segundo lugar dirías: «¡Espera un momento! ¿Cómo voy a comer o beber sin boca? No puedes decirle a mi boca que se quite de en medio».
Los cristianos son como un gran cuerpo que funciona para Dios., Y aunque otras personas que siguen a Dios pudieran molestarte, todas tienen un lugar en el Cuerpo de Cristo. La unidad con todos los cristianos es la forma en que aquellos que no conocen a Dios pueden ver su amor. Sin embargo, la unidad es difícil de conseguir. Oyes cómo algunos cristianos se quejan de otros hermanos y te enteras de que algunas iglesias se dividen a causa de los desacuerdos. La unidad solo es posible si todos están conectados a un mismo corazón: el corazón de Dios. De este modo, su amor fluye por las venas de todos. Cierto es que las manos pueden no querer pasar mucho tiempo con las orejas, pero pueden trabajar juntas para difundir las Buenas Nuevas de Dios al mundo.
Oración:
Señor, gracias por crear un lugar para que cada uno de tus hijos te sirvan a ti y a los demás. Te ruego que me muestres cuál es mi papel en el Cuerpo de Cristo.
Day 144 • All the Parts
If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
(1 CORINTHIANS 12:17–18)
Wouldn’t it be nuts if your nose decided to speak up and tell your mouth to take a hike? “You’re doing a lousy job,” your nose says to your mouth. “This body would be better off without you!” First, you’d think you must have been dreaming, because you’ve never heard your nose talk (that’s the mouth’s job!). Second, you’d say, “Hold on! How will I eat or drink without a mouth? You can’t tell my mouth to get lost.”
Christians are like one big body working for God. And even though you might get annoyed with other people who follow God, everyone has a place in the Body of Christ. Unity with all Christians is how people who don’t know God can see the love of God. But unity is hard. You’ll hear Christians complain about other Christians and churches that split up because of disagreements. Unity is possible only if everyone is connected to the same heart—the heart of God. That way his love is flowing through everyone’s veins. Sure, the hands might not want to spend a lot of time with the ears, but they can work together to spread God’s Good News to the world.
Prayer:
God, thank you for creating a place for every one of your children to serve you and others. Please show me what my role is in the Body of Christ.
