Hay tres obstáculos que impiden nuestra entrega total a Dios: el temor, el orgullo y la confusión. No nos damos cuenta de cuánto nos ama Dios, queremos controlar nuestra propia vida y malinterpretamos lo que significa la entrega. ¿Puedo confiar en Dios? La confianza es un ingrediente esencial de la entrega. No puedes entregarte a Dios si no confías en él, pero tampoco puedes confiar en él hasta que lo conozcas mejor. El temor impide entregarnos, pero el amor echa fuera el temor. Cuanto más nos demos cuenta de lo mucho que Dios nos ama, más fácil nos resultará la entrega. ¿Cómo sabes que Dios te ama? Él te demuestra su amor de muchas maneras: Te dice que te ama;3 nunca te pierde de vista;4 cuida de todos los detalles de tu vida;5 te dio la capacidad de disfrutar toda clase de placeres;6 tiene buenos planes para tu vida;7 te perdona8; y es cariñoso y paciente contigo.9 Él te ama mucho más de lo que te puedas imaginar. La mayor expresión de su amor es el sacrificio del Hijo de Dios por ti: «Mas Dios muestra su amor para con nosotros, en que siendo aún pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros».10 Si quieres saber cuán importante eres para Dios, mira a Cristo con sus brazos extendidos en la cruz, diciéndote: «¡Mi amor es así de grande! Prefiero morir a vivir sin ti». Dios no es un esclavizador cruel o un explotador que usa la fuerza bruta y la coerción para someternos. No intenta doblegar nuestra voluntad, sino que nos atrae hacia sí para que podamos ofrecernos libremente a él. Dios es amante y libertador, y cuando nos entregamos a él obtenemos libertad, no esclavitud. Cuando nos entregamos completamente a Jesús, descubrimos que no es un tirano, sino el Salvador; no es jefe, sino hermano; no es dictador, sino amigo. Reconozcamos nuestras limitaciones. El segundo obstáculo para nuestra entrega total es nuestro orgullo. No queremos admitir que somos meras criaturas y que no podemos controlarlo todo. Esa es la tentación más antigua: «Llegarán a ser como Dios».11 Mucho de nuestro estrés se debe al deseo de control total. ¡La vida es una lucha, pero lo que muchas personas ignoran es que la nuestra, como la de Jacob, es en realidad una lucha con Dios! Queremos ser Dios, y de ninguna manera podremos ganar esa lucha. A.W. Tozer dijo: «Muchos aún están confusos, buscando; apenas hacen pequeños progresos porque todavía no se han rendido del todo. Todavía pretendemos dar órdenes y entrometernos en la obra de Dios en nosotros».
Reflexión:
La esencia de la adoración es rendirse, entregarse. Esa es la respuesta natural al asombroso amor y la misericordia de Dios.
DAY 10/Second Part – The Heart of Worship

There are three barriers that block our total surrender to God: fear, pride, and confusion. We don’t realize how much God loves us, we want to control our own lives, and we misunderstand the meaning of surrender.
Can I trust God? Trust is an essential ingredient to surrender. You won’t surren- der to God unless you trust him, but you can’t trust him until you know him better. Fear keeps us from surrendering, but love casts out all fear. The more you realize how much God loves you, the easier surrender becomes.
How do you know God loves you? He gives you many evidences: God says he loves you; you’re never out of his sight; he cares about every detail of your life; he gave you the capacity to enjoy all kinds of pleasure; ◦ he has good plans for your life; he forgives you; and he is lovingly patient with you. ° God loves you infinitely more than you can imagine
The greatest expression of this is the sacrifice of God’s Son for you. “God proves his love for us in that while we still were sin- ners Christ died for us.” If you want to know how much you matter to God, look at Christ with his arms outstretched on the cross, saying, “I love you this much! I’d rather die than live without you.”
God is not a cruel slave driver or a bully who uses brute force to coerce us into submission. He doesn’t try to break our will, but woos us to himself so that we might offer ourselves freely to him. God is a lover and a liberator, and surrendering to him brings freedom, not bondage. When we completely surrender ourselves to Jesus, we discover that he is not a tyrant, but a savior; not a boss, but a brother; not a dictator, but a friend.
Admitting our limitations. A second barrier to total surrender is our pride. We don’t want to admit that we’re just crea- tures and not in charge of everything. It Is the oldest temptation: “You’ll be like God!” That desire to have complete control is the cause of so much stress in our lives. Life is a struggle, but what most people don’t realize is that our struggle, like Jacob’s, is really a struggle with God! We want to be God, and there’s no way we are going to win that struggle.
We aren’t God and never will be. We are humans. It is when we try to be God that we end up most like Satan, who desired the same thing.
Reflection:
The heart of worship is surrender. It is the natural response to God’s amazing love and mercy.
