La autoayuda no es eficaz en todo. El sacrificio es el camino, el camino para encontrarte a ti mismo, a tu verdadero yo.
MATEO 16:25 (PAR)
Todo comienza con Dios Dios no es tan solo el punto de partida en tu vida, sino la fuente de ella. Debes ir a la Palabra de Dios, no a la sabiduría del mundo, para descubrir el propósito de tu vida. Necesitas fundamentar tu existencia en las verdades eternas y no en la psicología de moda, la motivación del éxito o los testimonios emotivos. La Biblia afirma: «Es en Cristo que sabemos quiénes somos y para qué vivimos. Mucho antes que oyéramos de Cristo, él nos vio y nos diseñó para una vida gloriosa, parte de su propósito general en el que trabaja en todo y para todos».
Este versículo muestra tres revelaciones para tus propósitos:
1. Encuentras tu propósito e identidad al tener una relación con Jesucristo. Si aún no tienes esta última, más adelante te explicaré cómo iniciarla.
2. Dios pensó en ti mucho antes que tú en él. Lo que designó para ti precede al momento en que fuiste concebido. Lo planificó desde antes de que existieras, ¡y sin tu participación! Puedes elegir tu carrera, tu cónyuge, tus pasatiempos y muchos otros componentes de tu vida, pero no te toca escoger tu propio designio.
3. El propósito de tu vida es parte de un designio cósmico mucho más vasto, uno que Dios planeó para la eternidad. De eso trata este libro.
Un novelista ruso, Andrei Bitov, creció bajo un régimen ateo comunista. No obstante, Dios captó su atención un día lúgubre. Él cuenta: «A mis veintisiete años, mientras viajaba en el metro, en Leningrado (ahora San Petersburgo), me embargó una angustia tan grande que parecía que la vida se me detenía de súbito, el futuro se tornaba incierto y todo perdía significado. Repentinamente, como de la nada, apareció una frase que rezaba: La vida sin Dios carece de sentido. Para asombro mío empecé a repetirla y me dejé llevar por esa frase, como si fuera trasladado a través de una escalera. Al salir del metro me encontré con la luz de Dios».
Quizás has sentido confusión en cuanto a tu propósito en la vida. Felicidades, estás a punto de entrar en la luz.

DAY 1/ part 4 • It All Starts with God
Jesus said, “Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self.”
MATTHEW 16:25 (MSG)
God is not just the starting point of your life; he is the source of it. To discover your purpose in life you must turn to God’s Word, not the world’s wisdom. You must build your life on eternal truths, not pop psychology, success-motivation, or inspirational stories. The Bible says, “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” 6 This verse gives us three insights into your purpose.
- You discover your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ. If you don’t have such a relationship, I will later explain how to begin one.
- God was thinking of you long before you ever thought about him. His purpose for your life predates your conception. He planned it before you existed, without your Input! You may choose your career, your spouse, your hobbies, and many other parts of your life, but you don’t get to choose your purpose.
- The purpose of your life fits into a much larger, cosmic purpose that God has designed for eternity. That’s what this book is about.
Andrei Bitov, a Russian novelist, grew up under an atheistic Communist regime. But God got his attention one dreary day. He recalls, “In my twenty-seventh year, while riding the metro in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) I was overcome with a despair so great that life seemed to stop at once, preempting the future entirely, let alone any meaning. Suddenly, all by itself, a phrase appeared: Without God life makes no sense. Repeating it in astonishment, I rode the phrase up like a moving staircase, got out of the metro and walked into God’s light.” 7
You may have felt in the dark about your purpose in life. Congratulations, you’re about to walk into the light.
