El sol se detuvo en medio del cielo, y por casi un día entero no se puso. Ni antes ni después ha habido otro día como aquel en que el SEÑOR escuchó la voz de un hombre, pues el SEÑOR peleaba a favor de Israel. (JOSUÉ 10.13–14, NVI)
El sol sale cada día y cada día se pone. Incluso cuando está nublado. La tierra gira día y noche. Si se detuviera y dejara de dar vueltas, en un lado del mundo sería noche todo el tiempo, mientras que en el otro sería siempre de día. ¿Te imaginas tener que jugar en la oscuridad constantemente? ¿O irte a la cama con la luz del sol atravesando tus ventanas?
Josué logró verlo. Dios detuvo la tierra para que Josué tuviera mucha luz y pudiera derrotar a sus enemigos. ¡Las personas que se encontraban del otro lado del mundo se preguntarían qué estaba ocurriendo!
La Biblia está llena de historias milagrosas. Dios puede hacer cualquier cosa en cualquier momento. El Antiguo Testamento puede parecer un libro de ficción, pero toda su escritura es verdad. Dios puede detener planetas, dividir mares, hacer que los animales hablen y cambiar el corazón de cualquier persona. Hace milagros para su gloria, y esto significa que demuestra quién es él y el poder que tiene. Con Dios, todo es posible.
Oración:
Señor, no he visto nunca un milagro ni una obra asombrosa como las que tú hiciste para ciertas personas en los tiempos del Antiguo Testamento. No obstante, creo que eres un Dios poderoso, y quiero estar siempre a tu lado.
Day 06 • Anything Is Possible
The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a human being. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!
(JOSHUA 10:13−14)
Every day the sun rises. Every day the sun sets. Even if it’s cloudy, Earth still revolves through day and night. If Earth stopped spinning, one side of the world would be night all the time, and the other side would always be daytime. Can you imagine playing in the dark all the time? Or going to bed with the sun still shining through your windows?
Joshua got to see the earth stand still. God stopped it, so Joshua had plenty of sunlight to defeat his enemies. The people on the other side of the world must have wondered what happened!
The Bible is full of miraculous stories. God can do anything anytime. The Old Testament may seem like a book of fiction, but everything written in it is true. God can stop planets, part seas, make animals talk, and change the heart of any person. He does miraculous things for his glory, which means to show who he is and his power. With God, anything is possible.
Prayer:
God, I’ve never seen a miracle or an amazing work like you did for people in Old Testament times. But I believe you are a powerful God, and I want to be on your side always.
