“Ahora bien, la fe es la certeza de lo que se espera, la convicción de lo que no se ve.” Hebreos 11:1 “Porque por gracia habéis sido salvados por medio de la fe, y esto no de vosotros, sino que es don de Dios.” Efesios 2:8
En nuestro mundo de hoy, podemos ver todo lo que queremos en Internet. Podemos maravillarnos con los videos de naturaleza que provienen de países que están en la mitad del mundo mientras estamos sentados en nuestra sala de estar. Virtualmente podemos experimentar casi todo lo que queremos ver o escuchar debido a los avances en la tecnología. Pero como el primer versículo anterior nos dice, la fe se debe a cosas que esperamos, eso que no podemos ver. Debemos tener una convicción o una creencia. Para creer en Dios, debemos tener fe porque no podemos verlo. Todos los días, vemos la evidencia de Dios: el viento sopla, las olas del océano mueven el agua hacia la orilla, hermosas mariposas flotan en el aire, monstruos en miniatura de aspecto escamoso (lagartijas), los animales se mueven en el suelo, bebés nacen, los niños pequeños aprenden a caminar.
Todas estas son evidencias de Dios, aunque no podemos verlo. Tenemos fe sabemos que Él está allí siempre.
Tener fe en Dios también significa que recibimos la gracia o el perdón de Dios. Él no tenía que darnos este regalo; nos dio la gracia porque Él nos ama. Él sabe que no lo merecemos y, sin embargo, quiere que tengamos este amor y gracia. Lo único que necesitamos es fe en Dios y en Su Hijo, Jesucristo, quien nos dio este regalo en la cruz.
¿Cómo aumentamos nuestra propia fe? Eso es fácil. Podemos aumentar nuestra fe leyendo y estudiando la palabra de Dios.
“Así que la fe viene del oír, y el oír, por la palabra de Cristo.” Romanos 10:17
La Biblia es la palabra viva de Dios. Piensa en esto: Dios nos revela diferentes formas en que podemos aplicar el significado de la Biblia en diferentes momentos de nuestras vidas. Entenderemos exactamente lo que el autor quiso transmitir leyendo los versículos y usando buenas herramientas de estudio. Un versículo se puede aplicar de forma diferente, en tu vida, dentro de cinco años. Esto significa que puedes aumentar tu fe toda tu vida.
¿No es un regalo maravilloso? Es como abrir un presente diferente cada vez que lees los versículos.
Growing Your Faith
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8
In our world today, we can see anything we want to see on the internet. We can marvel at video clips of nature that are from countries halfway around the globe while we are sitting in our living room. We can virtually experience just about anything we want to see or hear because of the advancements in technology. But as the first verse above tells us, faith is for the things we hope for that we cannot see. We must have a conviction or a belief. In order to believe in God, we must have faith because we cannot see Him. Every single day, we see the evidence of God: the wind blows, the waves of the ocean move water to the shore, beautiful butterflies float in the air, scaly looking miniature monsters (lizards) scuttle about, animals move about the earth, babies are born, toddlers learn to walk. These are all evidence of God although we cannot see Him. We have faith; we know He is there always.
Having faith in God also means that we are given God’s grace or forgiveness. He did not have to give us this grace; He wanted to give us grace because He loves us. He knows that we are undeserving and yet, He wants us to have this love and grace. The only thing we need to do is have faith in God and his son, Jesus Christ who gave us this grace on the cross.
How do we increase our own faith? That is easy. We can increase our faith by reading and studying the word of God.
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” Romans 10:17
The Bible is the living word of God. Know this: God reveals to us different ways that we can apply the meaning1 from the Bible at different times in our lives. We will understand exactly what the author meant to convey by reading the verses and using good study tools. One verse can be applied entirely different to you five years from now. It will have the application that you need. This means you can increase your faith your whole lifetime. Isn’t that a wonderful gift? It is like opening a different present each time you read the verses.
