El perfeccionismo y la comparación van de la mano. Cuando buscamos la perfección, a menudo nos comparamos con los demás para ver si estamos a la altura. Pero si Dios nos hizo a todos de manera única y diferente, ¿De qué nos servirá la comparación? Una vez más, las redes sociales desempeñan un papel peligroso a la hora de perpetuar hábitos de comparación poco saludables.
Cuando constantemente vemos solo lo mejor de otras personas en las redes sociales, podemos comenzar a creer que no somos tan importantes, bonitos, buenos, emocionantes (lo que sea) como la persona que vemos en la pantalla. Pero es una trampa porque sólo vemos lo que otras personas quieren que veamos. La gente no publica cosas feas y vergonzosas.
Nadie quiere mostrar públicamente sus asperezas. Entonces, cuando te comparas con ellos, en realidad no es una comparación justa porque no los miras como un todo. E incluso si vieras el panorama completo, todavía no tiene sentido comparar porque a todos se nos dan circunstancias, habilidades y personalidades diferentes.
No estamos destinados a ser iguales: cada uno de nosotros tiene un papel diferente que desempeñar en el reino de Dios. Dios nos da a cada uno de nosotros dones únicos para contribuir al mundo, y no hay dos personas exactamente iguales. Entonces, deja de desplazarte y comienza a reflexionar sobre para quién te hizo ser y qué tienes para ofrecer de manera única.

Oración: Querido Dios, ayúdame a dejar de mirar a los demás y a ponerme en contacto con cómo Tú me creaste. Muéstrame en qué soy bueno y ayúdame a desarrollar esos dones para poder usarlos para bendecir a otros. Muéstrame mi papel único en Tu reino. Amén.
Comparison
“We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.”
2 Corinthians 10:12
Perfectionism and comparison go hand- in-hand. When we are seeking perfection we often compare ourselves to others to see how we are measuring up. But if God made us all uniquely and differently, what good is comparison going to do us? Once again, social media has a dangerous hand in perpetuating unhealthy comparison habits.
When we constantly see only the best of other people on social media, we can start to believe that we aren’t as important, pretty, good, exciting—you name it—as the person we see on the screen. But it’s a trap because we are only seeing what other people want us to see. People don’t post ugly and embarrassing things.
Nobody wants to publicly show their rough edges. So, when you are compar- ing yourself to them, it’s not really a fair comparison because you are not looking at them as a whole. And even if you did see the whole picture, there’s still no point in comparing because we are all given different circumstances and abilities and personalities.
We aren’t meant to be the same—we each have a different role to play in God’s king- dom. God gives each of us unique gifts to contribute to the world, and no two people are exactly alike. So, stop scrolling and start reflecting on who He made you to be and what you uniquely have to offer.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to stop looking around at everyone else and get in touch with how You made me. Show me what I’m good at and help me to develop those gifts so I can use them to bless others. Show me my unique role in Your kingdom. Amen.
