“Venid a mí todos los que estáis trabajados y cargados.” Mateo 11:28
Venid a mí todos los que estáis trabajados y cargados, y yo os haré descansar. Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas; porque mi yugo es fácil, y ligera mi carga. (Mateo 11:28-30)
Está es una invitación que Jesús nos hace muy francamente. Él está llamando a todos los que están cansados de vivir oprimidos bajo su propio pecado. Aquellos que están afligidos, no por los pecados de otros, sino por el de sí mismos. Él está llamando a las personas que están cansadas de caer en los mismos pecados una y otra vez, incluso si algunos de estos pecados están ocultos.
Jesús sabía que habría personas que están perfectamente conscientes en que sus vidas no son como deberían de ser. Quizás tú también sientes lo mismo; una persistente intranquilidad, un vacío que no puedes llenar con algo de este mundo, un anhelo de Dios, el cual quizás no puedes describir. Lamentas tu dureza, y puedes ver tu propia arrogancia y egoísmo. Te sientes impuro o “contaminado” porque no puedes controlar todos esos pensamientos y fantasías que van y vienen. Te sientes culpable.
La forma en cómo las otras personas te juzgan, ya sea que sepan o no con que estas batallando, o si eres Cristiano o no, no cambia el hecho de que tú mismo ves que las cosas no van muy bien contigo. Sabes que hay fuerzas en tu vida que son más poderosas que tú, y que en tus pensamientos te conducen lejos de Dios a cosas que sabes que no son buenas para ti. Cosas que te llevan a un espiral de miseria. Si tú ignoras esto, entonces no eres sincero, sin embargo, ¡tú en verdad quieres serlo!
Anhelo de ser liberado
Ese pensamiento de que Dios y la gente que está a mi alrededor tienen que sufrir porque tú estás atado al pecado, solamente sirve para hacer más grande tu dolor. Tú sabes: ¡Necesito ayuda! En tu aflicción y anhelo de llegar a una vida pura y divina debes estar dispuesto a dar lo que sea para ser liberado ya que ¡Tienes un enorme anhelo de convertirte a Dios!
Jesús conoce tu anhelo, y también tiene la respuesta: ¡Para tales personas, tengo un mensaje! ¡Él puede darte lo que estás buscando! ¡Él puede darte una vida totalmente nueva! Sin Él no puedes lograrlo. Pero con Él, y con la invitación que nos da, nos mostrará que con Él si podremos.
Oración:
Amado Señor, atendemos tu llamado y entramos a tus atrios, abriendo nuestros corazones sinceramente a ti, despojándonos todos nuestros yugos y cargas; creyendo que todo aquello ya no estará en nuestras vidas, y que quedan inoperantes por tu poder, descansamos en ti porque tu yugo es fácil y ligera tu carga, en el nombre de Jesús. ¡Amén!
Overwhelmed and tired
“Come to me all who are worked and burdened.” Matthew 11:28
Come to me all who are labored and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, that I am meek and humble of heart; and ye shall find rest for your souls; for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)
This is an invitation that Jesus makes to us very frankly. He is calling all who are tired of living oppressed under their own sin. Those who are afflicted, not by the sins of others, but by that of themselves. He is calling people who are tired of falling into the same sins over and over again, even if some of these sins are hidden.
Jesus knew that there would be people who are perfectly aware that their lives are not as they should be. Maybe you feel the same way too; a persistent uneasiness, a void that you cannot fill with something of this world, a longing for God, which perhaps you cannot describe. You regret your toughness, and you can see your own arrogance and selfishness. You feel impure or “polluted” because you can’t control all those thoughts and fantasies that come and go. You feel guilty.
The way other people judge you, whether or not they know what you’re struggling with, or whether you’re a Christian or not, doesn’t change the fact that you yourself see that things aren’t going very well with you. You know that there are forces in your life that are more powerful than you, and that in your thoughts lead you away from God to things that you know are not good for you. Things that lead you into a spiral of misery. If you ignore this, then you are not sincere, however, you really want to be!
That thought that God and the people around me have to suffer because you are bound to sin only serves to make your pain greater. You know: I need help! In your affliction and longing to come to a pure and divine life you must be willing to give anything to be set free as you have an enormous longing to convert to God!
Jesus knows your longing, and He also has the answer: For such people, I have a message! He can give you what you are looking for! He can give you a totally new life! Without Him you cannot achieve it. But with Him, and with the invitation He gives us, He will show us that with Him we can.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, we heed your call and enter your courts, opening our hearts sincerely to you, stripping us of all our yokes and burdens; believing that all that will no longer be in our lives, and that they are rendered inoperative by your power, we rest in you because your yoke is easy and your burden is light, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
