¿Por qué no nos convertimos en cristianos perfectamente maduros el instante en que aceptamos a Jesús como nuestro Salvador? La verdad es que, aunque hayamos nacido de nuevo con un espíritu nuevo y vivo, debemos desarrollar la capacidad de experimentar y confiar por completo en Dios.
Pensemos en un bebé recién nacido, que tiene capacidad plena para convertirse en un adulto único y especial, con el potencial de caminar, hablar, tomar decisiones, solucionar problemas y demostrar muchas otras habilidades. Aún así, el recién nacido no revela tales destrezas en el momento que nace. Al contrario, las aptitudes intelectuales se desarrollan a medida que el niño madura físicamente. Igual que ladrillos de construcción que se van juntando, otras habilidades se van estableciendo.
Muchas habilidades se aprenden a través de lo que se ve modelado, mientras otras requieren práctica intencional.
Lo mismo ocurre espiritualmente con nosotros. Dios nos ha dado el Espíritu Santo para ayudarnos a crecer y aprovechar al máximo todas las bendiciones espirituales que ya nos ha otorgado. Pero el proceso requiere tiempo, enseñanza, entrenamiento y, a menudo, pruebas. El Señor no solo sabe lo que necesitamos, sino también lo que podemos manejar. Por eso es tan importante confiar en que Él nos guíe y que sigamos adelante en nuestras metas cuando nos topamos con sufrimientos propios del crecimiento.
Oración:
Padre, gracias por hacerme crecer en la fe. Confiaré en que me levantarás. Amén.
Year of the Restitution • KEEP MATURING
Leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity.
HEBREWS 6:1
Why don’t we become perfectly mature Christians instantly upon accepting Jesus as our Savior? The truth is that though we have been born again with a new, living spirit, we must develop the capacity to experience and trust God fully. Consider a newborn baby. That baby has the full capacity to become a unique and special adult—with the potential to walk, talk, make decisions, solve problems, and demonstrate thousands of other skills. But the newborn doesn’t manifest these abilities immediately upon birth. Instead, intellectual aptitudes develop as the child matures physically; other capabilities are established like building blocks. Many skills are learned through what is modeled, while others require intentional practice.
The same is true for us spiritually. God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us grow and take full advantage of all the spiritual blessings He has already given us. But the process takes time, teaching, training, and, often, trials. The Lord knows not only what we need but also what we are able to handle. This is why it is so important to trust Him to lead us and to keep pressing forward when we encounter growing pains.

Father, thank You for growing me up in the faith. I will trust how You raise me. Amen.
