Cuando éramos pequeños teníamos miedo de los monstruos que se escondían bajo la cama o nos aterrorizaba la idea de lo que pudiese estar acechando en los rincones más oscuros de nuestra habitación. Por muy irracionales que fueran estos miedos, para nosotros eran reales. Nos quedábamos paralizados, sin atrevernos a respirar o a pedir ayuda, y cerrábamos los ojos con fuerza, suplicándole al sueño que llegara pronto. Las noches y la oscuridad que llegaba con ellas parecían eternas.
Y ahora que somos adultos seguimos teniendo miedo de los monstruos, pero hoy en día adoptan la forma de un jefe iracundo, una relación que pasa por dificultades, un diagnóstico médico poco favorable o una factura por pagar. El miedo nos inmoviliza y atenaza de una forma real y poderosa. Si no vamos con cuidado, el temor puede destruir nuestra tranquilidad. Como hija de Dios, puedes pedirle ayuda y tener la confianza de que te ayudará. Puedes librarte del miedo y saber que, sea cual sea el monstruo al que te enfrentas, no estás sola.
Oración:
Señor, los monstruos de mi vida pueden parecer abrumadores. Gracias por la promesa de tu Palabra, que me dice que me librarás de todos mis miedos si te busco a ti. Te pido que me des paz y que hagas brillar mi rostro cuando te mire.
Afraid of Monsters
I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. PSALM 34:4-5
As children we were fearful of monsters under the bed, or we were frightened by the thought of what could be lurking in the dark corners of the room. As irrational as those fears were, they were real to us. We froze, dared not to breathe or cry out and shut our eyes tightly bidding sleep to come. The nights and the darkness they brought seemed endless.
As adults we still fear monsters; however, these days they take the form of an irate boss, difficulty with a relationship, an unfavorable medical diagnosis, or a credit card bill. Fear grips us in a real and powerful way, immobilizing us. If we aren’t careful, fear can destroy our peace of mind. As a child of God, you can cry out to him, confident that he will help. You can shake fear and know that whatever monster you face, you don’t face it alone.
Prayer:
God, the monsters in my life can be overwhelming. Thank you for the promise in your Word that tells me you will deliver me from all of my fears when I seek you. I ask you for peace today, and the radiance of a face that looks to you.
