Y a todos les decía: «Si alguien quiere seguirme, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz cada día y sígame.

Negarnos a nosotros mismos o lo que es lo mismo, morir a la carne, es un proceso por demás difícil, al menos inicialmente, pues el pecado usualmente es deleitoso ¿Pues quien pecaría entonces si fuera lo contrario? Pecamos, porque nos gusta lo que hacemos; nunca he escuchado a un borracho decir que no le gusta beber, que la bebida es horrible; al inicio puede tener sabor amargo, pero luego de hacerlo repetidamente, te darás cuenta de que ya luego ni le sientes sabor y de la misma manera funciona con todos los pecados.
El que adultera, podrá tener remordimiento en la primera ocasión, pero ya una vez que te acostumbras, ya ni te das cuenta de lo que haces, te haces inmune al sentimiento de pecado, pues dice un dicho muy popular “La costumbre se hace ley”
Por lo tanto, cuando luchamos para hacer morir esos deseos de la carne, nos dolerá; pero como decía anteriormente, lo será al menos al inicio, porque ya una vez que aprendes a morir día a día, en las cosas más pequeñas; he notado, por lo menos en mí, que cada vez, me cuesta menos morir en las cosas más grandes.
Usualmente el pecado se manifiesta en la forma de tentación, tu decides si cedes o no, porque dice la palabra que no nos sobreviene ninguna tentación que no sea humana y que fiel es Dios, que no nos dejará ser tentados más de lo que podemos resistir. También nos dice que aquel que no domina su espíritu, es como una ciudad invadida y sin murallas.
Este proceso no es posible sin la ayuda del Espíritu Santo, pues es Él quien nos convence de pecado, y aquellas cosas que para nosotros antes eran normales, sin darnos cuenta, de repente tenemos una voz interna que nos dice “no lo hagas”
Dice la palabra que los frutos del Espíritu Santo son amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, benignidad, bondad, fe, mansedumbre y templanza. Así que cuando el Espíritu Santo mora en nosotros, tarde o temprano llevaremos todos estos frutos; es un proceso de crecimiento espiritual, día a día, paso a paso.
Sabrás que estas muriendo a la carne, cuando identifiques estos frutos en tu vida.
Oración:
Amado Dios, eres nuestra esperanza de vida, establece en nosotros a través del poder de tu Santo Espíritu, fortaleza para morir a nuestros malos deseos y no caer en tentación, crucificar nuestra carne que se levanta en contra de tu voluntad, queremos ser sacrificio vivo, olor fragante, portadores de tu fruto glorioso en nuestros corazones, revistenos de ti, del poder de tu fuerza, en el nombre de Jesús ¡Amén!

To deny ourselves, or what is the same, dying to the flesh, is a very difficult process, at least initially, because sin is usually pleasant. Then who would sin if it were the opposite? We sin, because we like what we do; I have never heard a drunkard say that he does not like to drink, that drinking is horrible; at first it may have a bitter taste, but after doing it repeatedly, you will realize that you don’t even taste it later and it works in the same way with all sins.
The one who commits adultery, may have remorse at the first occasion, but once you get used to it, you don’t even realize what you are doing, you become immune to the feeling of sin, like the very popular saying that goes “Custom becomes law.”
Therefore, when we fight to put to death those desires of the flesh, it will hurt us; but as I said before, it will be at least at the beginning, because once you learn to die day by day, in the smallest things; I have noticed, at least in me, that every time, it is easier for me to die in the bigger things.
Usually sin manifests itself in the form of temptation, you decide if you give in or not, because the Word says that no temptation that is not human comes to us and that God is faithful, and he will not let us be tempted more than we can resist. He also tells us that he who does not dominate his spirit is like an invaded city without walls.
This process is not possible without the help of the Holy Spirit, because it is He who convinces us of sin, and those things that were normal for us before, without realizing it, we suddenly have an internal voice that tells us “don’t do it.”
The Word says that the fruits of the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. So when the Holy Spirit dwells in us, sooner or later we will bear all these fruits; it is a process of spiritual growth, day by day, step by step.
You will know that you are dying to the flesh, when you identify these fruits in your life.
Prayer:
Beloved God, you are our hope of life, establish in us through the power of your Holy Spirit, strength to die to our evil desires and not fall into temptation, crucify our flesh that rises up against your will, we want to be a living sacrifice, fragrant odor, carriers of your glorious fruit in our hearts, clothe us with you, with the power of your strength, in the name of Jesus, Amen!
