Efesios 6:2-3
El primer mandamiento que va acompañado de una promesa es el siguiente: «Obedezcan y cuiden a su padre y a su madre. Así les irá bien, y podrán vivir muchos años en la tierra.»
Muchos hemos leído esa parte de la biblia donde nos dice “Honra a tu padre y tu madre, que es el primer mandamiento con promesa; para que te vaya bien, y seas de larga vida sobre la tierra” Efesios 6:2-4” Pero debemos entender el trasfondo de esto y así alcanzar esa promesa, es de suma importancia entender que quien transgrede principios cancela promesas y si Dios lo estableció como mandamiento es porque lo que existe detrás de eso tiene mucho poder.
Tener la seguridad de una promesa siempre nos llevará a querer cumplir el mandamiento, porque sabemos que hay una recompensa de por medio, pero también debemos saber que será en lo que más seremos probados pues sin importar las condiciones nuestros padres deben ser honrados. Que increíble es poder recibir una larga vida y obtener el bien por hacer algo para lo que fuimos diseñados, en realidad la idea de la familia es de Dios y cuando la estableció lo hizo para formar un ambiente seguro para que cada ser humano se desarrolle y alcance su propósito en la tierra.
La palabra “Honra” deriva del latín honorare que indica específicamente la glorificación pública, en este sentido se asocia con el orgullo por la relevancia social que significa. Por otra parte en sentido al verbo “honrar” la palabra deriva del griego timao que se refiere a la gran estima y consideración; por último desde el enfoque bíblico la palabra honra deriva del hebreo kabod que indica gloria y tiene la implicación de estima, obediencia, respeto, admiración y retribución. Con estas últimas cinco palabras encontramos la manera correcta de poder dirigirnos a nuestros padres y así comenzar con la bendición sobre nuestras vidas, cuando entendemos que Dios nos ama y ha hecho todo con la intención de brindarnos bienestar podemos confiar en que Él va a recompensarnos por obedecerle, nuestros padres fueron establecidos por Dios a nuestras vidas para mantenernos bajo autoridad y así establecernos en límites que resguarden nuestra vida espiritual, física y emocional.
Como hijo siempre he pensado que mis padres son ese camino que Dios ha delimitado para mi vida, su personalidad de ambos ha formado mi carácter, pues uno representa la parte firme y el otro la flexibilidad, lo interesante es que no siempre tienen el mismo rol pero Dios los usa en gran manera para direccionar mi camino y para enfrentarme a los retos de mi vida, en realidad siempre he buscado dirigirme con la visión de reflejarlos en cada escenario que tengo y busco poder mostrar quienes son ellos a través de mis acciones, al final de todo somos lo que ellos son, pues aprendimos de su ejemplo y con eso imitamos sus acciones, por eso existe una gran responsabilidad de ser padre y poder edificar la vida de los hijos.
Oración:
Padre Amado, estamos en una sociedad donde se ha perdido la honra en especial a nuestros padres, ayudanos a cumplir este gran mandamiento y poder ver el fruto del cumplimiento de esta; que sea fluyendo de un corazón sincero, mostrando el perdón y amor de Cristo, en el nombre de Jesús, ¡Amén!
The Promise of Honor
The first commandment that is accompanied by a promise is as follows: “Obey and care for your father and mother. That will do them well, and they will be able to live many years on earth.
Many of us have read that part of the bible where it tells us “honor your father and your mother, who is the first commandment with promise; that he may do well for you, have a long life on earth” Ephesians 6:2-4 but we must understand the background of this and thus reach that promise. It is of the utmost importance to understand that whoever transgresses principles cancels promises and if God established it as a commandment is because what exists behind it has a lot of power.
Having the assurance of a promise will always lead us to want to fulfill the commandment because we know that there is a reward through it, but we must also know what we will be tested. For no matter the conditions our parents must be honored. What an incredible thing is to be able to receive a long life and get good by doing something we were designed for. The idea of the family is actually God’s and when he established it, he did it to form a safe environment for every human being and develop and achieve his purpose on earth.
The word “honor” derives from the latin “honorare” that specifically indicates public glorification. In this sense it is associated with pride for the social relevance it means. On the other hand, in the sense of the verb “honor” the word derives from the Greek “timao” which refers to great esteem and consideration; finally, since the biblical approach the word honor derives from the Hebrew “kabod” which indicates glory and has the implication of esteem, obedience, respect, admiration and retribution. With these last five words we find the right way to be able to address our parents and thus begin with the blessing upon our lives. When we understand that God loves us and has done everything with the intention of providing us the best for us, we can trust that He will reward us by obeying Him. Our parents were established by God to our lives to keep us under authority and thus establish ourselves within limits that safeguard our spiritual, physical and emotional life.
As a child I have always thought that my parents are that path that God has delimited for my life. Their personality of both has formed my character, for one represents the firm part and the other represents flexibility. The interesting thing is that they do not always have the same role but God uses them in a great way to direct my way and to face the challenges of my life. In reality I have always sought to address myself with the vision of reflecting them in every scenario I have. I seek to be able to show who they are through my actions, at the end of all we are what they are. We learned from their example and with that we imitate their actions, that is why there is a great responsibility to be a father and be able to build the lives of the children.
Prayer:
Beloved Father, we are in a society where honor has been lost especially to our parents, help us to fulfill this great commandment and to see the fruit of the fulfillment of it; May it be flowing from a sincere heart, showing the forgiveness and love of Christ, in the name of Jesus, Amen!
