¿Eres luz para los que están en tinieblas?
Mateo 5:14-16
“Vosotros sois la luz del mundo; una ciudad asentada sobre un monte no se puede esconder. Ni se enciende una luz y se pone debajo de un almud, sino sobre el candelero, y alumbra a todos los que están en casa. Así alumbre vuestra luz delante de los hombres, para que vean vuestras buenas obras, y glorifiquen a vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.”
Por regla general cuando en la Biblia se menciona la oscuridad se está hablando de pecado, del mundo espiritual de tinieblas cuyo príncipe es Satanás, y en el cual viven, andan y se desarrollan todos aquellos que no han conocido la luz redentora de Cristo.
En Juan 8:12, Jesús dice: “Yo soy la luz del mundo; el que me sigue no andará en tinieblas.” Es decir, el requisito para salir de ese mundo de tinieblas es conocer a Jesús y seguirle; no hay otra alternativa. En el mundo espiritual, Jesucristo es el sol, fuente principal de luz y de poder. Los cristianos somos como la luna, que en medio de la oscuridad de la noche alumbra, no por su propia luz sino reflejando la luz del sol. Jesús dice que los cristianos somos “la luz del mundo”, pero nosotros no tenemos luz propia, sino que debemos reflejar la luz que proviene de él. Para ello es necesario que vivamos cerca de él, y conozcamos su palabra, y la pongamos en práctica en nuestras vidas, y la hagamos llegar a aquellos que necesitan de esa luz.
Cuando Jesús dijo: “Id por todo el mundo y predicad el evangelio a toda criatura…” (Marcos 16:15), no estaba hablando exclusivamente de viajar a otras naciones, aunque esto, de ser posible, sería estupendo. El Señor realmente estaba diciendo: “Mientras ustedes andan en este mundo…” Esto quiere decir que nosotros debemos cumplir esa misión a medida que nos desarrollamos en nuestros centros de trabajo, en la calle, en el vecindario, en el supermercado, en vacaciones, en el avión, en un restaurante, en la sala de espera mientras esperamos que nos atienda el médico, dondequiera que nos encontremos debemos aprovechar toda oportunidad que se presente para comunicar a aquellos que están a nuestro alrededor el Evangelio de Jesucristo e invitarlos a que se unan a la familia de la fe, aceptando a Jesús como salvador personal. Cuando Jesús dijo a sus apóstoles: “haced discípulos…” (Mateo 28:19), quiso decir que debemos crear en ellos un deseo de seguir y obedecer todo lo que él ha dicho. Es la única manera de salir de las tinieblas, conociendo a Cristo, siguiéndole cada día y viviendo una vida cercana a su luz redentora.
En su segunda carta, el apóstol Pedro escribe: “Tenemos también la palabra profética más segura, a la cual hacéis bien en estar atentos como a una antorcha que alumbra en lugar oscuro…” (2 Pedro 1:19). Pedro declara que tenemos la poderosa palabra de Dios, la cual puede alumbrar en medio de la oscuridad como una antorcha. Asimismo en el Salmo 119:105, el salmista declara: “Lámpara es a mis pies tu palabra, y lumbrera a mi camino.” Él afirma que la palabra de Dios alumbra su camino. Y el apóstol Pablo escribió en⬇️
Filipenses 2:14-15: “Haced todo sin murmuraciones y contiendas, para que seáis irreprensibles y sencillos, hijos de Dios sin mancha en medio de una generación maligna y perversa, en medio de la cual resplandecéis como luminares en el mundo.”
Así es que podemos ser luz para el mundo predicando el Evangelio de Jesucristo, y viviendo nuestras vidas de tal manera que nuestro testimonio sea un reflejo de la vida de Jesús. ¡Deja que la luz de Cristo brille en ti! ¡Lleva tu luz dondequiera que vayas! ¡Dios puede usarte para sacar a otros de las tinieblas!
Debemos vivir y conducirnos de manera totalmente diferente al mundo, a las tinieblas, contrario a la ceguera espiritual de este mundo. Nuestro andar debe ser el correcto que Dios nos detalla en su Palabra.
Preguntas para concluir:
¿Estás andando según la luz o según las tinieblas? Si hoy fuera el juicio de Dios ¿qué diría Él? A quién te pareces más ¿a un hijo de las tinieblas o a un hijo de la luz?
Si todavía no eres hijo de Dios, si no has nacido de nuevo, debes arrepentirte y convertirte, creer en Cristo y ser tus pecados ser quitados con su sangre.
ORACIÓN
Amante Padre celestial, ayúdame a guardar tu palabra en mi mente y en mi corazón, de manera que tu Santo Espíritu produzca en mi vida el carácter y la luz de Cristo, y que los que están a mi alrededor que no te conocen, reciban en sus vidas esa luz redentora que puede librarlos de las tinieblas en las que viven. En el nombre de Jesús, Amén
We are the Light of the World
Are you light to those who are in darkness?
Matthew 5: 14-16
“You are world’s light; a city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor is a light turned on and put under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, so that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. “
As a general rule, when darkness is mentioned in the Bible, it is speaking of sin, of the spiritual world of darkness whose prince is Satan, and in which all those who have not known the redeeming light of Christ live, walk and develop.
In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world; Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness. ” In other words, the requirement to get out of that world of darkness is to know Jesus and follow him; There is no other alternative. In the spiritual world, Jesus Christ is the sun, the main source of light and power. Christians are like the moon, which shines in the midst of the darkness of the night, not by its own light but by reflecting the sunlight. Jesus says that Christians are “the light of the world”, but we do not have our own light, we must reflect the light that comes from Him. For this it is necessary that we live close to Him, and know His word, and put it into practice in our lives, and make it reach those who need that light.
When Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature…” (Mark 16:15), He was not talking exclusively about traveling to other nations, although this, if possible, would be great. The Lord was really saying, “While you walk in this world …” This means that we must fulfill that mission as we develop in our workplaces, on the street, in the neighborhood, in the supermarket, on vacation, on the plane, in a restaurant, in the waiting room while we wait for the doctor to attend to us, wherever we are we must take every opportunity that presents itself to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those around us and invite them to unite the family of faith, accepting Jesus as your personal savior. When Jesus said to His apostles: “Make disciples…” (Matthew 28:19), He meant that we must create in them a desire to follow and obey everything He has said. It is the only way out of the darkness, knowing Christ, following Him every day and living a life close to His redeeming light.
In his second letter, the apostle Peter writes: “We also have the most certain prophetic word, to which you do well to be attentive as to a torch that shines in a dark place …” (2 Peter 1:19). Peter declares that we have the powerful word of God, which can shine in the dark like a torch. Likewise in Psalm 119: 105, the psalmist declares: “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.” He affirms that the word of God lights his way. And the apostle Paul wrote in
Philippians 2: 14-15: “Do everything without grumbling and contention, so that you may be blameless and simple, children of God without blemish in the midst of an evil and perverse generation, in the midst of which you shine like lights in the world.”
So we can be a light to the world by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and by living our lives in such a way that our testimony is a reflection of the life of Jesus. Let the light of Christ shine on you! Take your light wherever you go! God can use you to bring others out of darkness!
We must live and conduct ourselves in a totally different way to the world, to darkness, contrary to the spiritual blindness of this world. Our walk must be the correct one that God details for us in his Word.
Questions to conclude:
-Are you walking according to the light or according to the darkness?
-If today were God’s judgment, what would He say?
-Who are you more like, a child of darkness or a child of light?
If you are not yet a child of God, if you have not been born again, you must repent and convert, believe in Christ and have your sins taken away with His blood.
Prayer:
Loving heavenly Father, help me to keep Your word in my mind and in my heart, so that Your Holy Spirit produces in my life the character and light of Christ, and that those around me who do not know You, receive in their lives that redeeming light that can free them from the darkness in which they live. In the name of Jesus, amen
