1 Reyes 17: 20-22
Y clamando a Jehová, dijo: Jehová Dios mío, ¿aun a la viuda en cuya casa estoy hospedado has afligido, haciéndole morir su hijo? Y se tendió sobre el niño tres veces, y clamó a Jehová y dijo: Jehová Dios mío, te ruego que hagas volver el alma de este niño a él. Y Jehová oyó la voz de Elías, y el alma del niño volvió a él, y revivió.
La mujer viuda, madre del niño que habia muerto, es la misma que Dios habia usado para que proveyera a Elias de pan, y al ella obedecer no falto pan, ni aceite, para ella, su hijo, y al profeta.
La vida de esta mujer no habia sido fácil, por lo menos vemos, tres circunstancias difíciles, que ella habia tenido que pasar.
Primero, perdió a su esposo. Quizás su consuelo era que tenía un niño sobre el cual ella podía volcar todos sus afectos y esperanzas.
El segundo golpe, sobreviene una gran hambre; entonces ella se resigna a morir con su hijo después de comer el último plato de comida. Dios utiliza la presencia del profeta para preservarlos en esta situación tan difícil. Note que ella no se queja a Dios de lo que le ha acontecido.
Y ahora, con la muerte de su hijo, ha llegado el tercer golpe. La realidad es que ella no había hecho nada especial para merecerse este castigo. Dios, en su infinita sabiduría y providencia, ha permitido que esta tragedia sucediera. Por supuesto, tampoco nosotros podemos entender los propósitos de Dios cuando nos pasa algo grave. Es una bendición y consuelo saber que “Dios hace que todas las cosas ayuden para bien a los que le aman, esto es, a los que son llamados conforme a su propósito” (Ro 8:28).
Por otro lado, el Profeta se enfrentó a una situación muy difícil, en la cual tuvo que confrontar sus temores, tal vez miedo al fracaso, al rechazo, a ser juzgado. Pero es en esos estados emocionales del alma cuando el Señor viene a nuestro encuentro para dejar a un lado el temor, pues desde nuestra infancia hemos experimentado ciertos miedos que han influido en nuestra personalidad.
Pero frente a eso que nos paraliza, el Señor se acerca con su orden divino y nos dice: “No temas”.
Elias dejó a un lado todo temor y oró con un gran corazón e intimidad con Dios. Él trajo esta tragedia aparentemente inexplicable e irremediable en oración a Dios. Ya que él sabía que Dios le condujo a la viuda, Elías trajo esta aflicción hacia Dios y le pidió que lo remediara.
Y Jehová oyó la voz de Elías: El hijo fue levantado y Dios proveyó para la viuda en todo nivel – no solamente con la milagrosa provisión de alimento, sino con la resurrección de su hijo.

▪︎Ahora tu que vas hacer? ¿Vas a enfrentar esa situación que te tiene paralizado en oración y suplica a Dios?
▪︎O vas permitir que el enemigo obtenga la victoria, sabiendo que tu eres hijo(a) del Dios de los Imposibles?
Oración:
Rey de Gloria, en tu infinita sabiduría sabes que tenemos temores que nos paralizan y no nos dejan avanzar; por eso hoy entramos en tu altar en oración y clamor, firmes en la roca de Cristo Jesús; pidiéndote fuerza y fortaleza para poder resistir y vencer cada temor y obstáculos en nuestras vidas; tomando nuestra victoria desde la cruz, en el nombre de Jesús, ¡Amen!
Facing fears
1 Kings 17: 20-22
And crying out to Jehovah, he said, Jehovah my God, have you even afflicted the widow in whose house I am staying, by causing her son to die? And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to Jehovah and said, Jehovah my God, I pray you, bring this child’s soul back to him. And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the child returned to him, and he revived.
The widowed woman, mother of the child who had died, is the same one that God had used to provide Elijah with bread, and as she obeyed, she did not lack bread, nor oil, for her, her son, and the prophet.
The life of this woman had not been easy, at least we see, three difficult circumstances, that she had to go through.
First, she lost her husband. Perhaps her consolation was that she had a child on whom she could pour all her affections and hopes.
The second blow, a great hunger ensues; then she resigns herself to dying with her son after eating the last plate of food. God uses the presence of the prophet to preserve them in this very difficult situation. Notice that she does not complain to God about what has happened to her.
And now, with the death of his son, the third blow has come. The reality is that she hadn’t done anything special to deserve this punishment. God, in His infinite wisdom and providence, has allowed this tragedy to happen. Of course, we cannot understand God’s purposes when something serious happens to us. It is a blessing and comfort to know that “God makes all things work together for good to those who love him, that is, to those who are called according to his purpose” (Ro 8:28).
On the other hand, the Prophet faced a very difficult situation, in which he had to confront his fears, perhaps fears of failure, of rejection, of being judged. But it is in these emotional states of the soul when the Lord comes to meet us to put aside fear, because since our childhood we have experienced certain fears that have influenced our personality.
But in the face of that which paralyzes us, the Lord approaches with his divine order and tells us: “Do not fear.”
Elijah put aside all fear and prayed with a great heart and intimacy with God. He brought this seemingly inexplicable and hopeless tragedy in prayer to God. Since he knew that God led him to the widow, Elijah brought this affliction to God and asked him to remedy it.
And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah: The son was raised up and God provided for the widow on every level – not only with the miraculous provision of food, but with the resurrection of her son.
Questions to conclude:
▪︎Now what are you going to do? Are you going to face that situation that has you paralyzed in prayer and pleading with God?
▪︎Or will you allow the enemy to gain victory, knowing that you are a child of the God of the Impossible?
Prayer:
King of Glory, in Your infinite wisdom You know that we have fears that paralyze us and prevent us from moving forward; That is why today we enter Your altar in prayer and cry, standing firm on the rock of Christ Jesus; asking You for strength and strength to be able to resist and overcome every fear and obstacle in our lives; taking our victory from the cross, in the name of Jesus, Amen!
