La senda de los justos se asemeja a los primeros albores de la aurora: su esplendor va en aumento hasta que el día alcanza su plenitud.

Levantarse demasiado temprano no es divertido. Ni siquiera lo es hacerlo a una hora normal cuando estás cansado. Por esta razón son más las personas que observan las puestas de sol que los amaneceres. Y son menos aún los que han visto lo que ocurre en el cielo aproximadamente una hora antes de que el sol salga. En el horizonte aparece un resplandor de luz que se va haciendo cada vez más brillante. Por fin el sol se levanta y el cielo se va haciendo cada vez más claro hasta que alcanza su mayor claridad al mediodía.
El escritor de Proverbios quiere que sepamos algo importante sobre el obedecer a Dios. Así como el sol se abre camino hasta colocarse en el punto más alto, la obediencia también brilla con intensidad. Es posible que nadie note al principio que estás haciendo lo correcto. Sin embargo, tu obediencia a Dios resplandecerá sobre los demás. Cuando más hagas lo que está bien, más verán los demás la luz de Dios en ti.
Algunos podrían creer que eres tonto por defender a un chico en la escuela. Tal vez te ridiculicen por negarte a hacer trampas en un examen (como ellos hacen). Pero la verdad siempre sale a la luz. Es entonces cuando brillarás intensamente.
Oración
Señor, ayúdame a brillar para ti, aun cuando no vea el valor de obedecerte. Recuérdame que la verdad requiere tiempo para revelarse.
Day 195 • Bright Obedience
The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
(PROVERBS 4:18)
Getting up super early isn’t fun. It’s not even fun to get up at a normal time if you are tired. That’s why more people watch sunsets than sunrises. Even fewer folks have watched what happens in the sky an hour or so before the sun actually comes up. On the horizon a glow of light appears that gradually gets brighter and brighter. The sun eventually rises, and the sky keeps getting lighter until it reaches its brightest at lunchtime.
The writer of Proverbs wants us to know something important about obeying God. Just like the sun making its way to the middle of the sky, obedience shines brightly. No one may notice at first when you do the right thing. But obeying God will shine on others. The more you do right, the more others will see God’s light in you.
Some may think you’re dumb for standing up for a kid at school. They may think you’re ridiculous for refusing to cheat on a test (like they do). But the truth always comes to light. That’s when you’ll shine brightly.
Prayer
Lord, help me to shine for you, even when I don’t see the value in obeying you. Remind me that it takes time for the truth to be revealed.
