¿Cómo sabes que le sirves a Dios con todo tu corazón? La primera señal es el entusiasmo. Cuando haces algo por amor, nadie tiene que motivarte. Lo haces por puro gozo. No necesitas recompensas o aplausos o pagos, porque disfrutas sirviendo de esa manera. Lo opuesto también es cierto, cuando no tienes el deseo en tu corazón de hacer algo, te desanimas con facilidad.
La segunda característica de servir a Dios con todo tu corazón es la efectividad. Cuando haces algo que Dios te hizo amar, entonces das lo mejor de ti. La pasión exige perfección. Si no te interesa una tarea, probablemente no des lo mejor. En contraste, las personas que logran metas en cualquier campo son las que hacen las cosas con pasión, no por obligación o ganancia.
Oímos a la gente decir: «Acepté un trabajo que detesto porque lo que deseo es hacer dinero, así que algún día renunciaré y haré lo que me gusta hacer». Ese es un error muy grave. No pierdas tu vida en un trabajo que no exprese tu corazón. Recuerda, lo más grande en la vida no son las cosas. Vivir una vida con propósito es más importante que todo el dinero del mundo. El hombre más rico del mundo, Salomón, dijo una vez: «Una vida simple en el temor de Dios es mejor que una vida rica con una tonelada de dolores de cabeza».
Cuando haces algo por amor, nadie tiene que motivarte.
No te conformes con buscar «la buena vida», porque no es lo suficientemente buena. Al fin y al cabo no satisface. Puedes tener mucha vida y aun así no tener nada por lo cual vivir. En vez de que tu meta sea «una vida mejor», sirve a Dios de una forma que exprese tu corazón. Descubre lo que te gusta hacer, lo que Dios te puso en el corazón, y hazlo para su gloria.
Esa es tu oportunidad.

DAY 30/Fifth part • Shaped for Serving God
A simple life in the Fear-of-GOD is better than a rich life with a ton of headaches. PROVERBS 15:16 (MSG)
How do you know when you are serving God from your heart? The first telltale sign is enthusiasm. When you are doing what you love to do, no one has to motivate you or challenge you or check up on you. You do it for the sheer enjoyment. You don’t need rewards or applause or payment, because you love serving in this way. The opposite is also true: When you don’t have a heart for what you’re doing, you are easily discouraged.
The second characteristic of serving God from your heart is effectiveness. Whenever you do what God wired you to love to do, you get good at it. Passion drives perfection. If you don’t care about a task, it is unlikely that you will excel at it. In contrast, the highest achievers in any field are those who do it because of passion, not duty or profit. When you are doing what you love to do, no one has to motivate you.
We have all heard people say, “I took a job I hate in order to make a lot of money, so someday I can quit and do what I love to do.” That’s a big mistake. Don’t waste your life in a job that doesn’t express your heart. Remember, the greatest things in life are not things. Meaning is far more important than money. The richest man in the world once said, “A simple life in the fear-of-God is better than a rich life with a ton of headaches.”
Don’t settle for just achieving “the good life,” because the good life is not good enough. Ultimately it doesn’t satisfy. You can have a lot to live on and still have nothing to live for. Aim instead for “the better life” — serving God in a way that expresses your heart. Figure out what you love to do — what God gave you a heart to do — and then do it for his glory.
