Fueron comprados por un precio. Por tanto, honren con su cuerpo a Dios.
1 CORINTIOS 6:20 (NVI)
Llamado para servir a Dios. A medida que crecías, pudiste haber pensado que ser «llamado» por Dios era algo para misioneros, pastores, monjas y otros trabajadores de «tiempo completo», pero la Biblia dice que cada cristiano es llamado a servir.9 Tu llamado a la salvación incluye el llamamiento a servir. Ambos son lo mismo. Cualquiera que sea tu trabajo o carrera, estás llamado al servicio cristiano a tiempo completo. Un «cristiano que no sirve» por definición implica una contradicción.
La Biblia dice: «Él nos salvó y nos llamó a ser su pueblo, no por lo que hemos hecho, sino según su propósito».10 Pedro añade: «Fueron escogidos para hablar de las excelentes cualidades de Dios, quien los llamó. En el momento en que usas las habilidades que Dios te dio para ayudar a otros, estás cumpliendo con tu llamado.
La Biblia afirma: «Ahora perteneces a él… de manera que puedas ser usado para el servicio de Dios». ¿Cuánto de tu tiempo estás usando en servir a Dios? En algunas iglesias en China, a los nuevos creyentes les dan la bienvenida diciendo: «Jesús ahora tiene un nuevo par de ojos para ver, nuevos oídos para escuchar, nuevas manos para ayudar y un nuevo corazón para amar a otros».
Una de las razones por las que necesitas integrarte a la familia de la iglesia es para cumplir de forma práctica con tu llamado a servir a otros creyentes, todo es importante. La Escritura indica: «Todos ustedes juntos son el cuerpo de Cristo, y cada uno de ustedes es una parte necesaria y separada de éste».Tu servicio se necesita con desesperación en el cuerpo de Cristo, así que solo pregunta en cualquier iglesia local. Cada uno de nosotros tenemos un papel que desempeñar, y cada papel es importante. En ningún sentido hay servicio pequeño para Dios.
Tampoco hay ministerios insignificantes en la iglesia. Algunos son visibles y otros se desarrollan detrás del escenario, pero todos son valiosos. Los ministerios pequeños o escondidos a veces hacen una inmensa diferencia. En mi hogar, la luz más importante no es la del gran candelabro que está en el comedor, sino la de la pequeña lamparita de noche que impide que me golpee el dedo del pie cuando me levanto en la noche. No hay correlación entre tamaño e importancia. En asuntos del ministerio, todos dependemos unos de otros.
¿Qué pasa cuando una parte del cuerpo falla? Te enfermas. El resto de tu cuerpo sufre. Imagínate si tu hígado decidiera comenzar a vivir por sí mismo: «¡Estoy cansado! ¡No quiero servir más a este cuerpo! Quiero un año de descanso; que solo me alimenten. ¡Tengo que hacer lo mejor para mí! Deja que otro tome mi lugar». ¿Qué podría pasar? Tu cuerpo podría morir. Hoy miles de iglesias locales están muriendo porque los cristianos se rehúsan a servir. Se sientan como espectadores, mientras el cuerpo sufre.
Reflexión:
La madurez espiritual nunca es un fin en sí misma. Maduramos para dar.

God paid a great price for you. So use your body to honor God.
1 CORINTHIANS 6:20 (CEV)
The Bible says, “He saved us and called us to be his own people, not because of what we have done, but because of his own purpose.” Peter adds, “You were chosen to tell about the excellent qualities of God, who called you.” Anytime you use your God-given abilities to help others, you are fulfilling your calling.
The Bible says, “Now you belong to him . . . in order that we might be useful in the service of God.” How much of the time are you being useful in the service of God? In some churches in China, they welcome new believers by saying “Jesus now has a new pair of eyes to see with, new ears to listen with, new hands to help with, and a new heart to love others with.”
One reason why you need to be connected to a church family is to fulfill your calling to serve other believers in practical ways.
The Bible says, “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.” Your service is desperately needed in the Body of Christ — just ask any local church. Each of us has a role to play, and every role is important. There is no small service to God; it all matters.
Likewise, there are no insignificant ministries in the church. Some are visible and some are behind the scenes, but all are valuable. Small or hidden ministries often make the biggest difference. In my home, the most important light is not the large chandelier in our dining room but the little night light that keeps me from stubbing my toe when I get up at night. There is no correlation between size and significance. Every ministry matters because we are all dependent on each other to function.
What happens when one part of your body fails to function? You get sick. The rest of your body suffers. Imagine if your liver decided to start living for itself: “I’m tired! I don’t want to serve the body anymore! I want a year off just to be fed. I’ve got to do what’s best for me! Let some other part take over.” What would happen? Your body would die. Today thousands of local churches are dying because of Christians who are unwilling to serve. They sit on the sidelines as spectators, and the Body suffers.
Reflection:
Spiritual maturity is never an end in itself. We grow up in order to give out.
