El centurión le respondió: «Señor, yo no soy digno de que entres a mi casa. Pero una sola palabra tuya bastará para que mi criado sane…» Al oír esto Jesús, se quedó admirado y dijo a los que lo seguían: «De cierto les digo, que ni aun en Israel he hallado tanta fe».
(MATEO 8.8, 10)
Si tu maestro te comunicara que tendrías una fiesta de pizza cuando toda la clase haya aprendido todas las palabras de vocabulario correspondientes de la forma adecuada, ¿lo creerías? ¡Por supuesto que sí! Esto se debe a que conoces a tu profesor. ¿Pero qué me dices si le pidieras a un hombre que pasara por la calle cien dólares y él te respondiera que sí? ¿Le creerías? ¡De ninguna manera! No lo conoces.
¿Y en el caso de Jesús? Cuando le pides algo, ¿de verdad crees que te va a responder? Esta pregunta es más difícil de contestar, ¿verdad?
El centurión respondió que sí en un segundo. Ni siquiera había visto antes a Jesús. Sin embargo, había oído hablar mucho de él. Sabía lo suficiente sobre su reputación como el Hijo de Dios que hacía milagros. Por tanto, tan solo le pidió que sanara a su siervo y creyó que Jesús lo haría. Ni siquiera necesitó que fuera a su casa ni mandó buscar a médicos para que demostraran que su criado había mejorado.
Puedes confiar en Jesús, el Hijo de Dios. Cuando hablas con él o le pides alguna cosa, te responderá a través de la Biblia, de alguna persona o en tu corazón. Puedes contar con ello.
Oración:
Jesús, me pides que confíe en ti, pero a veces resulta difícil ya que no te he visto cara a cara. ¿Me mostrarás cómo creer en ti y ver tus respuestas?
Day 121 • You Better Believe It!
The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed … When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.”
(MATTHEW 8:8, 10)
If your teacher told you that you’d get a pizza party when the whole class gets their vocabulary words right, would you believe him? Of course! Because you know your teacher. Now, what if you asked a man on the street if he’d give you a hundred dollars and he said “yes”? Would you believe him? No way! You don’t know him.
With Jesus, when you ask him something, do you really believe he will answer you? That’s a harder question. The centurion answered “yes” in a second. He hadn’t even met Jesus. But he’d already heard plenty about him.
The centurion knew enough about Jesus’ reputation as the Son of God who did miracles. So he just asked Jesus to heal his servant and believed that Jesus would do it. He didn’t even need Jesus to come to his house or get doctors to prove that his servant was better.
You can trust Jesus, God’s Son. When you talk to him or ask him for things, he will answer you through the Bible, people, or in your heart. You can count on him.
Prayer:
Jesus, you ask me to trust you, but sometimes it’s hard when I haven’t met you face-to-face. Will you show me how to believe you and see your answers?
