¿Estoy cediendo a mis propios deseos (y a los deseos de este mundo) o estoy tratando de agradar a Dios? ¿Estás orgulloso de ti mismo por las cosas que has logrado en la vida?
Hay una diferencia entre estar orgulloso y estar demasiado orgulloso. Se le permite estar orgulloso de sus logros, pero alardear continuamente de ellos y estar orgulloso de sus logros está mal. Puedes estar orgulloso de ti mismo sin llamar la atención y decir: “Oye, mírame. Mira lo que he hecho”. Si mantienes la cabeza gacha y trabajas duro como si trabajaras para el Señor en todo lo que haces, llegarás lejos en la vida.
La Biblia dice que todo en este mundo, incluido el orgullo de la vida, no proviene de Dios sino del mundo. El mundo y Satanás dicen: “¡Oye, mírame a mí, no a Dios! ¿Por qué no presumir de todo lo que has hecho? Todo el mundo merece escuchar las grandes cosas que has hecho”. Pero Dios quiere que mires hacia Él en busca de sabiduría y guía en la vida. Él quiere que mires hacia Él, no hacia tu propio orgullo. Él quiere que seas humilde y que mantengas tu energía enfocada en Él.
Oración:
Siempre que te sientas tentado a alardear, di esta oración: “Señor, por favor ayúdame a ser humilde y a centrarme en ti, no en los caminos de este mundo”.
Excessively Proud and Boastful
For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.” 1 John 2:16
Am I giving in to my own desires—and the desires of this world—or trying to please God?
Are you proud of yourself for the things you’ve accomplished in life? There is a difference between being proud and being too proud. You’re allowed to be proud of your accomplishments, but continuously bragging about them and being prideful of your achievements is wrong. You can be proud of yourself while not bringing attention to yourself, saying, “Hey, look at me. Look what I’ve done.” If you keep your head down and work hard as if working for the Lord in everything you do, you’ll go far in life.
The Bible says everything in this world, including the pride of life, is not from God but from the world. The world and Satan say, “Hey, look at me, not at God! Why not brag about everything you have done? Everyone deserves to hear about the great things you’ve done.” But God wants you to look towards Him for wisdom and guidance about life. He wants you to look towards Him, not towards your own pride. He wants you to be humble and to keep your energy focused on Him.
Prayer:
Whenever you’re tempted to brag, say this prayer instead: “Lord, please help me to be humble and to focus on you, not on the ways of this world.”
